  1. I think in future, have a map thats big enough and detailed enough so exploring and developing takes longer, but not a HUGE map where everything is spread out and it becomes way too much repetitive work.

I heard some complaints from the people building links between cities this rev that it was too far and too repetitive. Do you have a number on what is big enough?

  2. A plain flat arena where the participants are given Blindness (an effect which reduces your sight to a few metres) and are the only people allowed to talk in a mumble room with positional audio. Spectators can watch, or watch and listen as the fighters taunt each other and work out where they are. The viewers can easily judge if someone is being a wuss, so the fight wouldn't consist too much of running away.

Downsides is that headphones would be required.

  3. Kitty, if you can't say the things on your mind with out upsetting people maybe you should just drop it.

Well in the spirit of being more direct if you feel like you are being hovered over and that everything you say makes someone mad maybe you should stop pissing people off?

We are supposed to be friends here. If you are holding grudges and you can't play along then that is the crux of the problem.

You have to be able to control yourself in this world.

Then you have no reason to be on these forums. We don't need the input of people who don't participate in the nerd.nu community we are trying to rebuild here. Later man.

Look, I didn't mean to be abrasive myself, and I apologize. I can do that.

If you are fed up take a break.

If someone is leaving at least we get a small break from them.

Also now I re-read it I can't let this go. I hope that the following is not a feeling shared by many. If it is, I believe it requires its own topic.

Remember, the staff and admins have no real power over this place. It is all built on social contract. Sure they can issue bans or whatever but this isn't supposed to be permanently adversarial.

  4. Well in the spirit of being more direct if you feel like you are being hovered over and that everything you say makes someone mad maybe you should stop pissing people off? I mean the signature with the fuck you, you don't have to do that. And not singling you out as I don't really know you but in general the trolling as a "joke",  the edging of the rules, a general air of being adversarial. I mean a lot of the people who have persistent problems in my view seem to deserve it.

I don't feel that way at all because I play the game and I bs on mumble with out making someone mad. Just be nice and this place doesn't feel like such a prison.

It's all opinion. I don't feel like I'm being hovered over, should i? You don't feel hovered over (I guess) but I find some of what you say in this topic rather hypocritical. Details not important.

If you can define 'insult the community', please do. Otherwise it sounds like arbitrary censorship.

  5. Wouldn't a less vanilla PvP server be better than an empty Vanilla one?

Not my decision to make, but that is the ground rule we've had so far. Partly to fit in with P, C and E I would expect/hope that the head admins require S to be vanilla or close (ie Civcraft ok, Factions not, modded not). Until we hear otherwise. Four tells me they have said otherwise.

Anyway, rev 28 isn't going to rock the boat, the first reply in this topic rightly suggests merely a 1.8 world. A timely rev 29 probably won't allow time for the new admins to plan something majestic.

  6. Okay guys stop removing my shit. It is shit that S players have been lead on for the last 3 months with the idea that something new was in the works. Quitting after 3 months of work with nothing to show for it is ridiculous. Do the smart thing and promote players that actually play on the server and get involved in the community to run it. Look back at every successful S revision, the admins were actively involved in the community. Lets use this as a learning experience and fix the survival server.

I look back at every revision and see that the players will play anything the admins provide, as the admins have sensible ideas. Involving the community in the planning stages doesn't have a great success rate, eg the Civcraft rev. I look at the admins leaving, and I don't assume that there's nothing to show for it. Even when a revision is launched the players don't know everything involved.

  7. No, d3north is doing something I'd like to call "quality assurance". He isn't about to hand over the new group to the admins if he has a reason to believe it'll flop like the other official group - which, to clarify; it did.

(You can argue with me about that, if you want, I'm happy to discuss it.)

If the quality assurance is judged by him it is hostage. This is why escrow exists.

  8. Difficult we've tried most of those in the past and they didn't work so well. Everyone was afraid (iiuc) of messing with the volcano. Ocean floors and custom trees have been thought to not be worth the effort. The flat valleys allow the cities to spread very fast, then they get squashed against the hillside - see Bromgoth. Large jungles, while my favourite, are generally disliked. The huge caverns I was aware of were part of the best boat ride I've ever had in Minecraft, but it was extremely rarely visited. In a way big valleys and jungles are repetitive land. However the new biomes and variants on them would be worth trying, as well as your dark oak forest idea. Rivers seem to get in the way of cities more than we predict, what if the valleys had shallow rivers that were easier to move?

  9. So much help has been offered to the sadmins, quite honestly I have no idea what they're doing that earns their positions.

I'm not sure I understand this, let me guess. You're saying that because you and your fellow players have offered to help the sadmins in their sadmin duties without being allowed to, the sadmins don't deserve to continue in their role?

  10. I FUCKING GOT A SPEEDING TICKET TODAY FOR TRYING TO PASS A SEMI TO GET IN THE RIGHT LANE TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY BUT WAS CUT OFF. FORCED TO GO TO THE NEXT STREET AND AN OFFICER DRIVING A COMPLETELY UNMARKED FORD F150  PULLED ME OVER AND WROTE ME A TICKET FOR FUCKING $120.

HE DID HOWEVER ALLOW ME THE OPTION TO PAY $160 TO COMPLETELY ERRADICATE THIS TICKET FROM MY EXISTANCE... BUT I HAVE TO ATTEND A FUCKING NIGHT-TIME DRIVING SAFETY CLASS.

Boy, the people you'll meet on those courses make me mad. One woman, after hearing how far you travel before you realise you need to brake, thought she could have brought the car to a stop in that distance/time. You just wish that the Darwin award coming up does not involve another living creature.
