  1. Think of it as vanilla with chocolate sprinkles. The monster spawners and ore plumps are designed to keep resources sustainable - last rev we consistently had 2k+ villagers idling in iron farms which does nothing to help tick rates. Adding ores into to overworld also helps keep the nether from being wiped occasionally because it's been mined dry. It can't be 100% vanilla because of how the players operate, but we can try to stay as close as possible. That being said, I know a lot of times we appear to stay silent but I have been noting down the suggestions everyone's made, and as we are able we are trying to implement the ones we think will be the most beneficial. I am concerned that taking away the need for grinders will effect more than just obtaining XP. For a lot of places the creation of the grinder is the majority of their building - if we take that away on p we run the risk of removing one of the big the reasons why people play. Working out designs and building them with others is a good portion of the fun.
  2. Running is an extra step. Walking should be ok. We are working on a slightly clearer version to help make this easier to understand in the future.
  3. As long as all it is doing is the single action at a vanilla rate it is allowed. What you've pasted above looks ok.
  4. First off, we took all comments into consideration - yours is not the only one on the server. No matter what we do someone will be unhappy with it, we don't just go changing things on a whim. Second, the only real thing that has changed is that you will know where the portals are up front. We are still deciding the placement of them and they will not be lit for a week. This is more of a clarification than a change.
  5. tl;dr change your password just in case. I would imagine if you are particularly concerned one of the techs or heads could check your username against what they were looking at. Safest bet is to change your password, regardless of whether you suspect it or not. You never know what happens on the Internet.
  6. Sneaky sneaky Zburd. My favorite is haven. Which I am not in since I am at work and therefore can't be in until later :) Really I like all the towns for different reasons. Some are really good at resource production and sharing, others have really beautiful builds that I can only hope to copy via stealing with a schematic, and others are really good at being open and friendly (not to say everyone's doesn't fall into a little bit of each). To see so many people cooperating and building so many cool things is really impressive. (Also Zburd I'm not picking one town because I don't want to make solace mad when I pick a town who hasn't griefed my rails <3)

  8. Just an update, looks like spawn is coming along really well. We do have one more inner segment that could use some love (the one marked for scherer). If anyone wants to take it let me know. Also spawn secrets need to be done this week too. I've gotten a bit more done than i was expecting so you can have until thursday evening EST to get your secrets done. If you need any world-editing let me know. also there is a modreq open for easy-signs. if you need a warp sign set up fill out the spreadsheet so i can track them all in one place and someone will pop in at some point to set those up for you. we're getting close!

  10. The challenge with that is that it still favors towns with large player counts. Individuals would have a hard time getting a portal Via the 'purchase' method. I guess the deeper question is this. What is the purpose of portals. Is it to allow access to distant areas? Or simply for resources? I have always viewed them as a public transport system, I know some of the other padmins view them as more resource access. If we can agree on their core purpose it makes the placement question much easier.

  13. I do want to put out there that we (padmins) have had some discussions about this topic, we just haven made any announcements yet - worst case scenario look for any changes we've decided when we make the mod-post for next rev.

  18. Hey guys. It's that time where we are getting the map for next rev put together. This is the call for all of your skills - we need people to help do a few things around spawn. I'll have some details below, let one of us know if you'd like to help beautify spawn or make secrets and you can be added to the whitelist. To get there after you are whitelisted do [redacted] (note if you do this from P you will display a "<user> has left the game" message. From the lobby it may show you connecting to dev...pls be sneaky. 1) Do not modify the weird floating island thing. Or any of the buildings/pathways surrounding it. These are my babies and I will find you (this means you zburd). Feel free to explore it though - I am hoping to be able to remove a lot of the 'wall of text' stuff that we have in spawn but that will depend on a bit of technical magic so more to come on that. "you can look, but pls to not touch" 2) The edges of spawn really REALLY REALLY need some landscaping help. I've been working on it but it's been very slow going and I'm hoping more hands and a different set of eyes will help with the areas I haven't finished. tl;dr - if the landscape looks square and meh pls to make it nicer. 3) spawn portal - I'm going to play with some ideas, but if you've got one that will fit in the green box at spawn let me know. I am always up for sharing the work wealth. Build something and if it works we can see about using it. 4) decorations - spawn is a bit plain-jane at the moment. It really needs trees, or plants, or gardens, or *something* to make it look better. This is where I know you guys will do well, just from seeing past builds :D Make it pretty! 5) secrets - feel free to add some spawn secrets if you wish. Holler if you need help or direction, I'm usually around. As always we haven't announced the official date yet for the rev so please do not leak that this is happening. Also any information about the map/spawn/anything is also considered secret - please do not share it. My last suggestion is if you want to help out I'd do it sooner rather than later...you know...just in case.
