Survival Survival Rev 26 - Information & Details
BeastBruiser replied to Mrloud15's topic in News & Information
Sneak peek of a few sections of the road that I've been working on. Also, puppy. -
Looks like there are some supply drops around S to keep an eye out for. Moar cute pups
-
My guess was that is was a in game warning during the event
-
Today, July 13th @ 5 PM EDT, Survival rev 25 will end, and will turn to chaos mode at 5:30 PM EDT. Obligatory cute puppy
-
Thus my question:
-
"the ones marked are the ones i marked" Obviously. That isn't what Mrloud asked though. What are you using to determine if a mod is active or not? what is your criteria? Not seeing them in a month? playtime? seen in IRC last? last seen on the forum? Mrloud has been actively looking into culling this list over the last week or two, compiling a list and trying to contact moderators. Buchanman has been active as a moderator this rev on S even if he hasn't been on in a month.

I like the idea of having two books. Maybe one that is just the rules, and a second that explains gameplay- just so the book labeled "rulebook" isn't quite so daunting
-
Everyone keeps talking about this "24 page long rule book." How many of you actually read it? (it's 30 pages BTW) The first 2 pages are "welcome, this is S" stuff. Then a table of contents for page 3, and 4 pages of basic game play changes such as extra crafting recipes, mods, and server config settings. Then the oppressive list of 31 rules, one of which seems to be missing (#9?) which is 7 pages. The next 4 pages are Tharine's new player guide 2 pages of /LWC commands come next, followed by 3 pages describing modreqs and how to use them 1 page listing other services/resources of nerd 4 pages listing various commands And the book ends with 2 pages advertising PvE and C The majority of the book is a helpful resource to players. perhaps we should change the name? Would that help?

If it is a tag that appears in chat, I am against it. As shown with the clan tags, having extra stuff in the chat makes it hard to read. If it is something that simply appears next to a players name in game, it could be worth looking into and might encourage more PvP

Forum rule request: use of up/downvotes
BeastBruiser replied to barneygale's topic in Minecraft General
In a perfect world that may be what the downvotes are used for, but around here they more frequently get used because someone dissagrees with a contributing post or simply doesn't like the player posting. If you look through the threads (especially some of the more recent ones) the use of downvotes just spurs butthurt "y u downvote me brah" posts and other drama that really only hurts the discussion. I definitely think upvotes still have a place, but downvotes really don't and don't seem to add much if anything to a discussion. That is the same opinion I got from reading the old thread that draykhar posted. players missed the upvotes when they were removed, but really didn't care about the downvotes. -

Ehh, take it for what it is, I was responding to his (unfortunately accurate) accusation, and asking for a legitimate post. For an upvote, sure, but threads full of downvotes usually turn confrontational rather than constructive quickly and downvotes are almost always used as a lazy alternative to posting a thought out reply. I see very few constructive uses for downvotes. -

Yup, trying not to though as that does nothing to help the servers. Anyways, do you have a contributing comment to post that I could maybe upvote? or just more mudslinging? -

Hmm, I just found a use for downvotes, Comments that do nothing to contribute to the conversation. Mud slinging does nothing good for the servers IMHO. -
Initially after being asked to stop he even apologized and said he would yet failed to do so and continued even after several warnings
-
Just make a chest, use /cmodify crockodile on it, and then /mail send crockodile i left items in chest for you at x y z. IMHO having the ability to send items without interaction discourages map exploration, player interaction, and transportation development, all of which are very important on PvE.

I would agree with you dizney. The times I have been inclined to use downvotes have been out of laziness when I didn't feel like putting in the effort to think through and post a response. I do think that upvotes serve a useful purpose as they can be used instead of a style post -
"does not indicate that any of these plugins will be used on Survival". Currently we are not planning on using Botany for the next rev
-
It sounds like a good idea to me as well. I'm picturing this

Usually the objective of UHC is to be the last team or player alive (exceptions being seasons 1, 2, and 9 which were race to kill the dragon and season 4a which was still stay alive but with the twist of a central monument to complete instead of killing if the players wanted to)
-
If we are going to limit the amount of players that can do the event, I would suggest having all players that were interested sign up, and then have 45 players randomly selected and distributed into 15 teams(or however many players/teams is decided on) as last survival rev I led the PvP stats despite never having enchanted a single set of diamond gear. I simply helped some players farm heads for fireworks and ended up on top.

Perhaps you meant monthly instead of annual ? :D
