  1. Isn't this on-topic discussion, since it's about the server?
  2. Well, I was expecting something important, and then I got a random joke. It isn't really a big deal, but it's always best to name things properly. Edit: Deal =! Idea
  3. Sounds cool. I'm pretty sure random.org has a list option, though; you can skip the number thing.
  4. Naming a topic "read this" is kind of annoying, you know. You could've picked a title that actually gave some information, or at least sounded less urgent.
  5. Should I abandon the poll I've been working on? It might be a bit redundant. Of course, a poll with specific choices might be useful for determining precisely how much certain options are liked/disliked.
  6. How do you plan to change Seneca? How long do you think you'll be a mayor for, assuming you get elected?
  7. Hosting an elephant parade requires knowledge of elephants, as well as an area to parade in. Twenty-six. Parading an elephant host requires extensive elephants of knowledge, as well as a parade to area in. Sixty-two. Dumbo52 may be named after the character Dumbo (an elephant) from Dumbo, a movie released by Disney. However, other than that, I have no affiliation.
  8. I noticed that lots of people were making these, and I currently have quite a bit of free time. I'm not sure that I'm anywhere near well-known enough on these servers to do an AMA, but whatever.
  9. If Enchantism and the XP plump are removed, the server will become even more hostile towards new players. This probably isn't something we want.
  10. Well, the problem with adding an economy is that it might alienate the existing playerbase. Of course, the poll would help everyone figure out exactly how much of the playerbase would be alienated. I'll add that.
  11. Ah. Exploration will probably still be difficult, since people will seek out diamond houses to loot so that they can camp spawn. A gear sign might help keep the playing field even, though saving the TNT for later is probably a good idea.
  12. Will there be signs for TNT and gear at spawn?
  13. Hmm. Is there anything currently that actually encourages people to kill random unarmoured players? I know that the website has kill statistics, but I'm not sure that that's what's causing it.
  14. Survival doesn't have as many players as PvE, and I'm currently trying to figure out how this problem could be solved. I'm making a Google Forms poll on the subject, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I'm currently planning to make two forms; one will be for non-players about what would make them play, and one will be for players about what would make them leave. I hope that this will reveal a possible change that will cause more people to join without alienating the existing playerbase. Once the surveys are finished, I'll post them on the forums and subreddit. After some time has been allowed for people to respond, I'll release the results so that people can look at them. Crossposted from reddit.
  15. It shouldn't. The actual game doesn't use OpenSSL. The launcher and/or the servers use OpenSSL, but the game does not.
  16. Uh, would it? I'm pretty sure that passwords have nothing to do with the game version. Passwords are probably launcher/server-based, which has nothing to do with the actual game version.
  17. It links to nerd.nu/forum, not nerd.nu/forums. This causes it to give you an error page. Of course, it still takes you to the site; it's not a big deal, but it's slightly irritating and I wasn't sure if anybody knew.
  18. According to the statistics posted to the subreddit, flow requests make up a huge chunk of all /modreqs. Though I don't know exactly how the /modreq system works, as I am not a mod, I think it would save effort if there was a /flowreq command. The syntax would probably be "/flowreq [x] [y] [z] [comments]", or a variant. Though it would take some work, it might be possible for a plugin developer to give admins the ability to warp to the /flowreq location and view the comment with one command. It would also separate flow requests from other requests, though I have no idea whether this would be a good thing or not. Of course, I have no idea how admins view and fulfill flow requests, so I'm not sure if this would be better than the current system. This is just a suggestion.
  19. An admin has mailed them, and offered to move the structure in 48-72 hours if they haven't responded. Thank you for the assistance.
  20. It seemed to me that Creative was mostly inactive, but I haven't been a member of the servers for too long. Is Creative normally much more active than it was up to the end of the rev?
  21. It's on survival. I already /modreq'd the problem; this was intended to be an explanation of exactly what was going on so that the person handling it could get an explanation even if I wasn't online. I was planning to /modreq the url so that whoever was handling the /modreq could see it, but it wouldn't fit the character limit. Thanks for the advice, though. I'll /msg one of them.
  22. (Note: this isn't really interesting, so I wouldn't bother reading it if you're not involved. I couldn't figure out what the best medium for this was, but I'm pretty sure most admins are active on the forums.) This is an attempt to store all of the things I've found out about the tower that was built on my land, since explaining it all ingame would require either /msg-ing a mod or a ton of /modreqs. Last Friday (the 28th) I logged back in to find that a few people had built a gigantic wooden tower on my property. Either on Friday or Saturday (I'm rather bad at remembering times, sorry) I made a /modreq, /mail'd them, and put up a sign asking them to /mail me. Though I think my ownership of the land was reasonably obvious, it is true that my wall didn't quite strech around the land, though I did have a small base with a few other people. A mod checked things out and said they would bring it to the attention of an admin, since they've done a fairly large amount of building. (Note: the giant stone tower was built by one of my clan members after the fact. It wasn't there before. I'm trying to avoid building anything or working on the walls, since I think it's best for things to remain as they were.) I logged in today to find that they hadn't responded to my mail, and had taken down both my sign and the sign saying who built the tower. In addition, using the /seen command showed that while one (richcheese) hadn't been active since Friday (probably before I logged in) one had been active early Sunday. I'm certain that I sent richcheese mail, and I believe I sent the other person mail as well. I'm not 100% sure that I sent the second person mail, however. I talked with a member of my clan (mudgut), and they said that they had met one of the builders. According to them, the builder was rather irriated, but they left (?). However, others may have taken up residence of the tower. I am unsure who is at fault here. While it is true that I should've finished my walls, I think it was pretty clear that I was using the land, and they should've looked around a bit more before starting such a huge construction project. However, it is possible that they figured somebody would've interrupted them if the land wasn't abandoned, and assumed that nobody was interested in it. Unfortunately, I was absent from early Monday to Friday evening (visiting a relative with poor internet), and I am unsure of when I logged on previous to that. I have attempted to keep a mostly objective viewpoint, but this post may contain bias; if so, I apologize. I suggest that you talk to the owners of the tower to get their point of view; I know richcheese was on the sign, and some other people are named inside the tower. I hope that we can sort this all out.
  23. I strongly agree with bringing Chaos back, as well as the possibility of rotating old rev maps. Perhaps it could rotate with Creative, since not many people use Creative?
  24. I enjoy classical music. I dislike many genres of music, especially when they're being played loudly; in particular, I find metal and rap to be somewhat harsh.
