  1. Staff shouldn't be able to close threads because they're offended by the content, that's not how being part of a community works. I think the staff need to lighten up in general, because over the past half-a-year there's been a load of tension between players and staff - a lot of it comes from the strict enforcing of rules on the server. Lenient staff is not something we have at the moment, and that really needs to change in order to lighten up the atmosphere. Banning players for tiny little things that can simply be reversed is a waste of time for everyone, and does nothing but piss people off. Things that don't affect anyone in any shape or form are being seen as serious incidents, which is ridiculous - we're playing a game.
  2. no Edit: It should be obvious, nerd.nu doesn't have a place for Factions. Survival is a pretty unique kind of server that many people play to get away from the normal Economy Factions etc type of servers. There's nothing new we'd have to offer if we became that type of server like dozens if not hundreds of other servers have.
  3. Big props for making this post, these are the actions we need to keep taking.
  4. That's the idea. From the screenshot: "/s should be a command to italicize your text to emphasize the sarcasm".
  5. Let me repeat what has already been said - staff votes are guaranteed to be taken under solid consideration as opposed to player votes; player votes need to gain enough attention and constructive discussion to be considered, and even then a result is not guaranteed.
  6. I don't think it was necessary and honestly it's simply childish for people to change a policy about the servers to stop them from getting downvoted. I don't see what positives the new system is going to bring. People are saying "you should have to point out why you disagree with x post" - nah, I don't think anyone here has the energy or the time to write up an essay in response to every single thing we disagree with. I'm sorry, but this was an absurd policy change sparked by certain players getting flared up about getting downvoted, and I don't support it.
  7. Do you enjoy creating artistic paintings? Does BCB228 like creating artistic paintings?
  8. I've heard the username before and I've seen him online in the background on PvE, but nothing ever made him very noticeable.
  9. That's quite a hefty guarantee. Are you sure you want to make such promises? I'm kidding. But seriously, staff are here to ban people, enforce policies and the like - the community as a whole improves the servers, not one single person or a small group of people.
  10. Considering Mrloud15 is the one who closed the thread in question and you're the one defending yourself in a thread about that, you're in turn defending Mrloud15. We also don't mean the entirety of the admin team, but it's much more easygoing to say that when the admins in question are implied rather than directly pointing out usernames, yeah?
  11. I'm sorry, but the thread was perfectly on-topic until slide23 brought up this incredibly relevant gem: Seriously, if you guys actually believe we're being biased and disagreeing with you to spite you, start a thread about it and we'll sort it out there.
  12. You're complaining because you're being downvoted, but you're actually the one taking the thread off-topic here. Let the conversation continue its due course.
  13. I'm sorry, but there are plenty of staff that simply vote "No" on every single person they don't speak to or know. I'm trying not to name anyone here, but the people in question aren't really helping the servers with their close-minded way of voting. Take a scroll through the past few voting threads and you'll see exactly who/what I'm talking about. I can agree with you that Creative is doing pretty well in the current thread, but that doesn't change the fact that it's easier to get a moderator position as a PvE player - if you want my reasoning behind that, check the past 5 votes and possibly even past that.
  14. The soon-to-be new Creative mods have been actively helping out a fair bit with Creative, whilst they don't pop on the forums all too often their actions in-game and in Mumble are sufficient reason to see them as capable. The PvE staff listed on there I've known to be helpful, especially tactical_spork who (in my opinion) took far too long to be nominated. As for rtr, he's been around here for a long time and frankly he has a pretty damn good idea of what Survival needs. The others I haven't met yet.
  15. We've generally been trying to improve ourselves for a long time, actively since Creative started getting some new staff/features and now the general vibe I'm getting is that Survival is now in that same sort of stage. This entire forum (spare the Off-Topic section) was made to help improve nerd, I can guarantee you nerd is in full swing to improve itself.
  16. The reason individual server voting would work is because: The people that know said person best decide, as compared to getting voted off simply for not knowing the staff that decide whether they get mod or not. If someone's mature enough to be seen as mod-worthy on one server, it's very unlikely for them to run amok on the other two. Whether or not the individual server votes are kept to being staff-only, I can guarantee it'd work better than the current system we have where being PvE based is by far more beneficial than being Creative/Survival based. Considering the misuse of the "I don't know this person well enough" option in modvotes, (staff voting 'no' on people they never bothered to speak to and the like) individual server voting would be far more balanced and much less biased than the current system is. If we're getting worried about mods voted in by their friends going rampant with their powers and trying to ruin the servers, please keep in mind the Head Admins have the final word on each candidate - I find it very unlikely that they would let someone through if it's obvious they have little intention of helping nerd.
  17. It should be very obvious if you read this and the related posts: We're doing a player and staff vote, to see what the differences are and what discussion might come forward. (zifnab06, take note I'm replying to CROCK here, just used you as a reference.)
  18. Hah, I was wondering how I'd respond to Trooprm32 there, but you said it best and I agree wholly.
  19. I agree with your points that a full community vote wouldn't work, now that you've put all that forward. However, what about individual server voting?
  20. Whilst there would be a lot of dislike for it, I believe it'd actually benefit us as we aren't simply trying to shut down the other server's chances of getting new mods, so I feel it's worth looking into this. Perhaps at the meeting - come to think of it, this entire thread needs to be discussed at the nerd.nu general meeting.
  21. Of course they should make the effort to get to know candidates, but I very rarely see that happening, and when it does happen, I most certainly approve of it. I can guarantee you that the staff voting only for their personal server isn't a coincidence and happens all the time, regardless of whether the potential mods in question are suitable or not. Check the previous mod nomination thread, and the one before that, if you still disagree with me.
