  1. Many players here like to be solo. That is partly required because so many people burn out, player numbers, the fun and control of it and so on. Clans any more tightly bound than what we have now won't work, it'll be one sided. I believe the past proves this, though I wasn't around. Factions is ruled out by this, unless you have a heavily detailed idea of how it can be different. "More focused on PVP" is also ruled out by the past unless you have a heavily detailed idea.

I like Barney's idea. But it weakens the hardcore players so based on the past I won't hold much hope. I get the feeling the central core of players who keep coming back want S to change, but not their S gameplay. They want whatever is cool at the moment because they invested time on this server and they see other servers have it. But many of the changes offered to them by the staff are turned down harshly. Mrloud's accusations against the core players are true. Look at how the S players respond to offered changes compared to P and C. Attitude matters, everything else is slow until that is dealt with.

  2. It might not be perfect, but vanilla is less perfect. Vanilla enchanting requires grinding, putting in the effort to get spare sets of diamond, a grinder to get the xp from, just for one fight (more or less). It takes far too long for how short they can last.

  3. Could there be a road region, and people modreq/click a sign to be added to that? If there is any effort required to build there it should stop people building personal things there.

Amplified terrain has very few points where each type of builder would want to build. so one person might claim a string of hill tops while other people want the cliff faces. This could be wasteful if they don't overlap in some way. Sort of the same with mesas.

I would like more shallow oceans. Deep ocean is popular, but vanilla minecraft seems to prefer it almost exclusively.

  4. I think it'll have to be worldpainter, as we'll need a lot of ice plains and mesas.

Is it possible for rivers to not be river biome? Ideally I'd like the whole world to be jungle biome, for the best grass colour, but river is the worst and wouldn't be noticeable until people put grass down in a river.

  5. I don't agree, the plugins merely add some value to PvP. What of the underground/hidden hermit lifestyle needs a plugin?

I had a base on a PvP server that had a nether plugin. It made portals one way, and the nether 1:1 scale. I forgot to take obsidian through and walked the 800 ish blocks to spawn through the nether. I'm not sure that's suitable for Nerd, but it's a hermit-helping plugin.

  6. It isn't just - are you, the current long term players, satisfied by it - but also what would new players think of it. For someone who is new to the game, or new to multiplayer what are their assumptions about how hard they need to try to protect things? How many difficult lessons would they want to learn without giving up.

  7. That sounds like a bad idea. Things would cluster close to spawn and those who choose to live further away would need to travel a bit too far for nether access.

Idea: How about you put portals around the map, but nobody is allowed to build on them/claim land on them? Maybe a 50 or 100 blocks buffer zone that no town could get, nor would a town be allowed to encircle a portal, but we could build roads and rails to portals still.

A while ago we had the idea of a portal on an island in a lake, with space for CART stations underground. The lake would be nearly render distance wide, maybe not circular. A city is on either side, possibly with a village or independent builds on the other sides of the lake (and very little in the lake, just small docks and piers). I don't remember who this involved or how far it got.

  8. On S if you take a carrot from a farm or break a wheat you need to replant, however, if you kill someones pig or cow farm that is okay.

I feel that since this is survival if you are allowed to kill animals then you should be allowed to take plants without having to replant.  I probably stand alone in this but wanted to get other peoples opinions on the subject.

Or go in the other direction, and say that because you can't take away one source of food, you can't take away the other, farm animals. Extend the farming rule to say you must breed animals when you kill them. I remember a topic several months ago about what you have to leave behind in an animal farm. It's two of everything. Does that not apply to more open farms?

  9. Like with trade-killing, this is a matter of honour that you tell others about. If you never trade with trade-killers they are punished for it. If you never engage with runners they are punished for it. The communication between players, if open enough, solves this.

  10. Just going off of personal knowledge. For some reason, Redstone acts up while traveling from chunk to chunk. This is not always the case but I have dealt with Redstone circuits on C before that didn't work correctly but if I moved the build over to a different chunk (and I know everything was Identical because I used WE to move it) everything worked. I never tried to troubleshoot it any further than that though so your guess is as good as mine as to the actual reason as to why it doesn't actually work.

If we suspect that might be a problem for us on C are we allowed to have our builds moved?

  11. Yeah, with a modreq for flowing water.

Most of the time I need water it's static and it's going to stay where I put it once. When I need flowing water it's while caving and I need it right now, either for upcoming danger or because I want to move on. If I need some massive use of flowing water, like filling a lake I happily coordinate with a mod at a time of their convenience. Otherwise, power to the people, I agree with giving us more.

  12. Can a plugin do something along the lines of - when the it player drinks or throws a bottle of water a zombie is spawned, who doesn't 'see' the it player. There's a Team Fortress minigame called Versus Saxton Hale, where a player is massively buffed and can very easily kill anyone else, but it's not popular. So I'm thinking more of the army one can spawn to help distract the chasers.
