I'd just like to make it known that I've re-wrote this very post about six times now feeling I've been too rude or too offensive, and in fear of being banned due to it. So if something doesn't make sense or I seem offensive, I am sorry but I am not re-writing it again. You can comment about concerns. The current map is very bland outside of the very colorful spawn, it doesn't inspire me to want to build anything really. It's just curvy plains with a mountain range. very little trees, very little forest, feels very unrealistic to a normal societal environment. I feel next revisions map should be made from a full seed rather than worldpainted from a flatland map. Spawn is very difficult to navigate. Now, I wont lie, the whole underground basement was a cool idea. But I feel the idea doesn't work in terms of a spawn. Players don't enjoy spawning in this very dark and enclosed area where they are forced to either use the uninviting warp signs or navigate a very long and extensive maze to get out. Only to find themselves in the back area of an unfinished train station. I feel that these should be more of the secrets of spawn, and the players should simply spawn on the center of the circle in the garden. Likewise, it should include a physical version of the rulebook, showing banned blocks, and what-not. While I know that a board of rules rarely works, I find more people are going to see the sign than the book which they don't even have to open at all. So in short, all future spawns are directly connected to open air, and you can see the world (from spawn, or a few steps from spawn). As letsb said about spawn city, it needs a bit of help. albite I was completely hesitant at first about a spawn city, I will say that the format we have for them is excellent, where its plots only a few hundred blocks around spawn, however they must be flatter, and very well organized, perhaps an established format for roads for future versions. I discussed the CTA with you in game, well suggestion in a nutshell: All future CTA's are community builds built with guidance by staff however not entirely by staff, as well as fully multi-station lines, preferably cardinal lines and loop lines however that isn't entirely required. Since in the 3M meeting cyotie told us that C would get a testing server for testing a retro creative: survival mode, no flight, spawn blocks. I would like to suggest that Actual C get faster flight options. I know in the past this has been rejected because griefers could use it to grief more... But I'd like to bring to the table a few things in response, 1. Most griefers wont find that command anyways. 2. We can roll it back instantly 3. In the wise words of one of google's founders: " It is better to think for the benefit of the consumer than the company" true players are the consumers in this quote, and the server is the company. Yes not having it protects us from a slightly enhanced form of grief, but really, it would make building so much easier. A suggestion I had during the 3M meeting to perhaps bring back more players was a hub server for all 3, I was told we had one in the past, however it went without success. When I asked players who were present during it, they said it served no purpose because each server still had direct links, and all new players still found us via direct links because the hub link was rarely spoken of and not listed. Perhaps we should consider a new hub server on the newer Minecraft that is where all 3: C, P, S forward to, and use that hub as a means of showing new players that we have multiple servers, as well as showing off for events (or nostalgia days something i will request later). A hub server would also allow us to have something cool to decorate for holidays rather than each servers spawn(which we get lazy and never do anymore... or it remains christhahanakwanzikadan all year). My last modification to the server suggestion would be make 2 separate lists of warps... ./builds which would allow us to find builds that need to be worked on such as community builds, and ./warps which are finished builds that are intended to impress people on the server. other suggestions, to touch on what crockoduck said, YouTube videos are great, we can look at servers like craftedmovie and they are extremely popular because of their YouTube channel. while we probably wont go into 3D animation and voice acting, perhaps simply exploring the server with some REALLY bad-ass shaders and texture packs would be cool, as well as taking tons of high res images with them to post to our website/forum/subreddit to perhaps attract more people. I mean, lets face it, nerd.nu(website)'s images are very outdated.... rev 15 creative boat spawn as pve, rev 14 creative spawn as C, and the very edge of rev 15 creative's map for S... we're on rev 25 and rev 24's spleef stadium would cause rev 14's spawn to tremble in fear :P Oh, and referring back to nostalgia days, this would be a map we would have attached to a portal on the hub which would allow us to revisit 1 different previous revision of any of the 5 servers we have had per week, editing it wouldn't be allowed unless the map was under chaos, but exploring previous revs_ IS AWESOME _and everyone loves seeing C's previous revs.

More ideas for build topics: skyscraper, the remaining parts of waynes sponge, skyscraper floors, house, nature scene, pagoda, boat, plane, car. Prizes: name on a prizeboard in spawn, build becomes featured near spawn(only if applicable), an award on the subreddit, mod for a day(hahaha not exactly, however i recall in the very distant past, a contest winner got exactly 48 hours to build with world edit, and ability to place banned blocks.) Perhaps their build could be featured on the website as one of our shader HD renderings?(I mean we haven't updated them since rev 15 and all 3 were taken from C anyways)

How about a competition for designing a server icon(s)?
XkinOEC replied to TheRandomnatrix's topic in Minecraft General
Guys, its a PNG not a gif or bitmap... you can make smooth edges and have DPI, you don't need a pixel by pixel icon. -
This is just a notification to those who were planning to attend tomorrows 3M mumble meeting as Magnyus and I had said it would be weekly. There will NOT be an October 24th meeting. Meetings will resume next week as scheduled. Thank you for your cooperation! I will be posting the previous meetings audio as soon as I find a viable means of doing so. While we wait however, I would like to ask you all for topics to discuss at the meeting, please private message me on the forums or on minecraft. Thanks! Nickeox

At this time Magnyus and I are deciding where we should host it (potentially even creating a community project of this for future meetings) If we do decide of an in-game location to host the meeting, we will inform you on all of our posts, as well as update the agenda to match. As for right now, we are still unsure. however you are free to suggest some locations, we do love suggestions!

Hello, this post is to inform you of the Creative Server Community meeting (3M) lead by Magnyus which will be occurring on mumble Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 5:00PM EST as well as part two for our members who may have been busy during the previous part on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 1:15 AM EST. This meeting is designed to discuss suggestions, and express concerns for the Creative server, as well as give the community a chance to voice their opinions. If you are considering joining either meeting, please comment below with the time which you plan to attend. This does not by any means require or deny your ability to join or leave the meeting. It also will not hinder your ability to take an active role in this meeting, this is simply for gauging our potential crowds. We have a tentative Agenda Available here: Agenda (subject to change prior to meeting) If you have any questions, or suggest any changes to the Agenda, please tell us below. If you have a presentation you would like to show at the meeting, please direct message Magnyus or myself about it before 3:00 PM EST on October 17th, 2013. We will conclude the meeting If it exceeds two hours, the meeting is however expected to be about an hour or less. You are free to join and leave the meeting as you please. After the meetings, an audio recording from each part will be posted along with a “minutes” document giving you a full synopsis of what occurred at the meeting. For more information, please refer to this post by Magnyus We hope to see you there!

There are so many stories to tell from rev 24, starting with all of the new friends I had made. To think I didn't know the following people last year: Admanta, Ceegith, Dex, Derpinator, Difficult, Eehee, Hail, Mag, Neva, Sky, Wayne, and many more whom I can't think of off the top of my head right now. For that, I thank you all, it is honestly the best memories I could ever wish to have. I'm also glad to see my returning friends like Marting, Excelblue, and Zhenwan. It was great getting to talk with you all again after my period of absence. In terms of build memories I have to say this rev for me started exclusively with Spleef. I was aimlessly flying through the world one day, and bumped into NEVAstop. It took off from there, leading to a whole complex spleef stadium, with a bowling alley/ CTA train station underneath. That followed up with the construction of a whole CTA Blue line with spawn station, along with Spleef City including a diner, pharmacy, pizza restaurant, motel, and of course a Walmart which brought for controversy over the lake which spleef was built on. That controversy was both angering, and due to some confusion on cadmin's part nearly got me banned. But in the end, I look at it as if its a necessary party of the story. I did much a lot of work on Mira. Then we built the party basement which in my eyes made rev 24 a true Revision to the nerd.nu servers. I can't exactly describe all of what made it so great, but I'll say that friends and creativity are my true memories of this revision and I hope that continues here on rev 25. Thank you all.

Request/Suggestions for a new Cartograph System
XkinOEC replied to MasterCommaThe's topic in Minecraft General
Mastercommathe made a good point. We should also do very nice renderings of our maps. The ones currently used on nerd.nu (website) are from revision 13 of creative... Now, It was a creative spawn, but we've had much more amazing things on the server since then. We should update those with each revision change. We should also use these types of images when making our server look interesting to other people like posts to other subreddits, youtube videos, etc. -
Request/Suggestions for a new Cartograph System
XkinOEC replied to MasterCommaThe's topic in Minecraft General
I'd like to point out a few things about Dynmap We were using Dynmap back when all 3(5 if you include the average 20 on chaos and 2 on war) servers were constantly full to capacity... 200+ players per server... Currently we're lucky if we max 50 on 1 server. Back then, lag was a problem, but minecraft was also 10X more resource intensive on users and servers. I don't believe that the map was actually the cause of it due to the fact that major lag issues had ended before the Dynamap carto was removed. That said, I believe we have enough unused resources for a more dynamic map If I remember correctly, we didn't stop using it because of lag issues either. We stopped using it because of the mod not being updated with some really far back version of minecraft. It's period of hiatus appears to have ended however soon after we replaced it. As for the chat function; Dynmap is very versatile in terms of settings you can apply to it. The one shown above actually is modified from the default. You can disable the ability to chat from the map, yet maintain the ability to display chat and use the IRC relay (Which would get rid of the need for the creepy bot that sits in various areas of the spawns of our 3 servers) Part of this versatility also allows for extension mods to be installed, such as 3d rotation chunk update comparison and even a full virtual walk around mode. These unnecessary addons can give more features to the map and some may reduce its resource usage as well. Now, It isn't up to me to decide, but I do suggest we play around with a new carto. Perhaps we could get something better for viewing the beauty of C and Pve... I know for a fact that I would be greatly happy if I could see my builds that end up covered by other builds on the map because of the perspective... But perhaps what we have now is simply the best solution for us. I'm not sure. -
Flight speed: because flying on C is so slow. If it is use of nuker you're worried about, it's not like there aren't already noclip mods that people utilize on our server that completely bypass security anyways... As well as the fact of mods/admins are able to roll it back in seconds. I see no valid reason not to have it, or at least give us compass so we can move around quickly. Honestly, speed and accessibility are major problems I have when on this server. Countless times would my and several other users productivity on this server been drastically improved if I could move faster. I don't think we should simply shoot down something this beneficial because we fear the same grief that we already would get anyways. Besides that, you don't HAVE TO advertise flyspeed ability. It's a server side command, there are several commands that common users never know about. such as /ping or /lsd or /gin they only travel by word of mouth, and no fresh visitor(potential griefer) to the server would never know to try those commands.

flyspeed. give us /flyspeed 10 option.
