  1. If you had to rename Nerd.nu/redditpublic/mcpublic to something completely different from those 3 names, what would you name it and why?
  2. What color are your underwear? (That's not a creepy question at all)
  3. If I ordered a Mole of eggs for my barbecue, how many would I receive?
  4. What is your favorite amusement park ride? (IRL and Dumboland)
  5. ERMAGAWSH, can I get one that looks like my avatar is extremely chipper mid jump and waving his hand rapidly? :D
  6. Come back GMMan

  7. Are we required to build it on nerd on the event server? I mean I MAY have one that is for sure within the size limit, but its currently on a personal world. Just curious.
  8. Will try to make it to S for an extended period of time sometime soon. I pomise!!!
  9. Because it has been brought to my attention that few people know how to open .OGG files, which is the file type we used for the meeting. You can download VLC player because it will be simpler than installing the appropriate audio codec.
  10. There is far too much for me to respond to without causing myself far too much anger and taking more time than I currently have available to myself. So rather than responding, here is a list of ideas to make C better Ideas for making C better Giving users access to a few of the lesser commands that belong to world edit, such as WAND for example. WAND itself can be extremely useful for determining distance between two blocks... So many times I endlessly do stupid block lines just to measure the distance from 1 block to another because visually I cannot do that any other way... simply clicking 2 blocks will tell me the distance between them. This feature can be very useful. Yet even as recently as a week ago, I was told that under no circumstances would ANY features of worldedit be made available to anyone under the level of server admin. If we want to talk about shot-down ideas and close-mindedness this is a perfect example, but i digress... Wand would be nice. Giving the players COMPASS as we were promised during the end of creative rev 14 fundraiser. Compass is a relatively old feature to minecraft which would allow us the ability to travel a distance quicker than before. As previously stated we were promised this feature to be permanently enabled following the rev 14 fundraiser if we met a certain goal. Which we met. When I asked Verros about it a week later he said that the Admins said it was impossible at that time due players traveling faster than normal minecraft walking, the server wouldn't be able to handle it. Now perhaps at that time the server couldn't handle 120+ people all compassing all at once, however I did not donate US$125 to nerd.nu/donate during that fund raiser only to get nothing out of it(of course it sure seems that way as of now), Since that fund raiser, we upgraded to a server that is nearly 8x more powerful, decreased our average playercount by 2/3's and shut down our chaos and war servers. I certainly don't see why I am still waiting on this feature. Of course knowing how bringing up increased movement ability in the past has gone, i'm sure you'll find yet another reason to prevent players from getting compass. Flyspeed, brought it up before as I referenced at the end of compass, was shutdown for fear of enhanced griefing. More fun mods that don't hurt the server, minecart trains, mob disguises, any block as a hat, personalized inventory kits, text color in signs, animated signs, interactive signs, alternate titles(nickname), afk (not by command, but by idle status). Another novel idea would be to allow us all blocks, yes beacons can be spammy, but they only light if on a pyramid. TNT doesn't explode, why am I kicked for trying to spawn it? Why can't I use inverted redstone lamps or torches? Is it that bad that I want to play with fireworks on C every once in a while? I don't know what error you encounter on bukkit servers with item frames, but I have spawned massive walls of item frames within item frames on a personal server with no added stress. Furnace minecarts, they'll depspawn anyways after like 10 minutes... why not let us have fun making a train on the CTA for once? Heck, with out current player base, we might as well bring up full worldedit within owned plots, its not that hard, and is limited in its power, as well is in the confines of a protected area, if the max block spawn per command limit is 200 blocks, we wouldn't have noticeable lag. This problem which REALLY needs to be addressed, is the current map. Unless some really awesome land is just beyond the border within the area of our first expansion, I think this map is far too boring to build on. Now I know what your going to say, MOUNTAINS RIVERS AND A GIANT LAKE... Yes, but those are far too vast. As the map painter, it looks great, but as a player on the map, it looks like a giant open plains with no real nature. add that to the very confusing spawn tunnels and this map really doesn't seem inviting or inspirational. I'd like to make the point of how cities and other builds would form in the past, and that would be based on what was around, Rev 24 for example, Spleef Pointe formed because of the lake, and forested area around it. The highway exit city was a combination of Marting11's highway and the snowy forest biome. rev 13 newbabylon was built right between 2 forests to make it look grandER. Natural landmarks also help make the world more familiar to people, and familiar is welcoming. Honestly if you listen to nothing that I say here, please, take in consideration making or even just generating a new map before doing any sort of advertisements to attract new people to our server. I have much more to say, but I keep running out of time to write this each time... I'll likely cover my position on advertisements next. Also, feel free to ask questions about things I didn't explain well enough above.
  11. I have quite a bit I need to reply to here, and on a few other threads about this same topic. I will be doing so later today, however as requested. Here are the 3M Creative Mumble meeting recordings. The "minutes" of the meetings were never officially completed so you'll likely need to find the places that reference your posts yourself. Thursday meeting conducted by Magnyus & Nickeox: Meeting part 1 Friday meeting conducted by EeHee2000 & NEVAstop: Meeting part 2 I suggest anyone who was not present for these meetings please listen to at least the first part.
  12. While I find roast's hub to be quite beautiful, its portal system is not nearly as welcoming as I feel we should have, our current one isn't great, but without going up and reading a small minecraft sign, i can still easily tell which portal is C, P, S, E. I hate to look towards rival servers for a better explanation, but PR's lobby server does succeed in making regular(slightly larger) portals easily distinguished because they are marked with a giant sign above each cardinal portal (although they have more than 4, so its a bit different) but still food for thought for the contest builders, mark everything boldly, a minecraft sign on a portal isn't the most welcoming thing for our new potential community members.
  13. Totemo, I know we didn't always see eye to eye, and I would always pester you with unimportant tasks relating to exclusively C. I do apologize. You did a great job of keeping up with the servers even when others would not, it has been a pleasure meeting you(in-game) and knowing that someone other than myself is actually interested in the technical side of things. Thank you for being here. Sincerely, nickeox
  14. How about rather than separate forums, which is an idea that I completely dislike from every other server network I encounter, we just make subforums on the current one, under the "the server" category, such as "Creative", "PVE", and "Survival" which will keep all posts for those separated... unless this was your statement the whole time, I'm not really sure since I consider nerd.nu/forum a single forum.
  15. We would have roads still to this day, however with how spawn is setup there really is no logical way to make roads, and the ones which were already made were not the best, thus no one felt compelled to continue them, after the redesign, we did feel compelled to do so, however we lost our chance as most of the area right outside of spawncity became cluttered with other builds blocking the existing roads from being expanded. Buzzin, do trust that Magnyus and myself had great plans for being a driving force to build this server right; CTA, roads, spleef, stylized cities, etc... We had plans, however most could not be implemented due to various constraints presented to us at the start of revision 25 which had never been a problem in the past. I remember this time well. There was plenty abuse but this seems to bring to light a much bigger problem on nerd.nu as a whole, that being how moderators are chosen for the server. Why are most of the moderators especially from C even made moderators in the first place? I hate to point this out, but many moderators on here are chosen almost spontaneously with nothing more than a check of ban listings. Not how long they have been playing minecraft, not the major statistics of them playing on nerd.nu, not even taking community input... Perhaps before we place blame on the world edit which can be completely changed to allow only certain tools to be used, we should blame the moderator who abused their powers. Of course this is assuming they were even told that such tools were strictly for repairing grief. If they weren't then we have no one to blame but the admin who made the final decision to allow them to become moderators in the first place. Since it seems the admins on nerd treat moderatorship as a spontaneous opportunity for promotion you can't just assume that new moderators will know such rules about their new abilities. But back to C topics, we shouldn't be afraid of it's power since its easily able to be limited. It can be restricted to region owners which would require people to start without it, then get their region protected to get it. You can also remove individual tools from the peoples permissions levels and deny its use to place specific blocks that would be obvious cause for grief (EX. pistons). Together this voids practically all of the con's you had listed for world edit. You still say lag, however our server should be able to handle this increased strain easily, if it can't then there is clearly some sort of modding problem going on with what is currently run on our server. Which should be top priority to be solved by our tech staff anyways to reduce wasted resources. Tornado: This is something that has been happening on nerd.nu since the avo attack really... We've become far too worried about adding excessive security and removing fun/useful features. This is why our server is so trapped in the past. Rock, we do need a bit more than just advertisements, but I completely agree, ADVERTISE OUR SERVERS! We could totally recover at least 1/4th of the lost audience on C from proper advertisements.
  16. Then come on c, make a community build that everyone will enjoy and advertise the crap out of it, make it imaginative, make it impressive, make it intricate, then be kind and curdious to everyone who comes to help, do not force anyone to help either. The key to building a community, is making a community of anyone and everyone, making them feel welcome regardless their level. Saying "IMMA BUILD A ROAD, anyone wanna help?" and not expecting an immediate response. This sort of method will rebuild our creative community from the ground up. And perhaps convince the staff to get creative out of the dark ages... Maintaining vanilla my ass... What the heck is the clan system and modified enchanting on the survival mode servers? I'm not saying give us worldedit, but for fucks sake, give us something beyond vanilla and stop taking away full block permissions. I'm tired of treating nerd so lightly on why It falls behind when the answes are really quite obvious. That is all.
  17. I can't now, it seems to have stopped occurring since you implemented the lobby.
  18. After the 1.7 update I've noticed that when joining the server with mail in my inbox (new or not) i get sent the green text "You have mail! Type '/mail inbox' to see" twice. This isn't a game breaking error, but I figured i'd post it anyways.
  19. I tag this creative, because I feel it's a bigger problem on C where the previous revision carto's are generally viewed most often. But anyway, the point I am making.... Many of the previous revision cartographs featured on the wiki were not actually from the most recent snap of the respective revision. This isn't exclusive to just the previous rev (rev 24) but 23, 22, and i'm told 21 as well. With rev 24 and 23 I noticed 2 problems, not only were they each approximately a month or more behind the date the final carto should have been taken, but they are also sized to match when the revision first started(before the space expansions). This is noticeable if you attempt to view marting11's highway in rev 24, or miniempire in rev 23. While it's not necessarily logical to startup a whole server just to take another cartograph picture, I think it might be ideal to use the opportunity we would have when we get our 4th server for testing survival mode creative, to simply load the old maps for a short time, and grab accurate cartograph images. Thanks Nickeox
  20. D: Mag where are you?!

  21. MAGNYUS WHERE ARE YOU?

  22. Happy Bruv Day :3

  23. No problem, and in fact, that is exactly what I would like us to do with the next map, use an actual generated terrain map, then modify it with stuff like an extreme mountain range and volcanoes, perhaps a small nether biome again. Referring back to the spawn yes, open spawns have been greatly appreciated if I recall the previous lengthy limited spawn was rev 14's islands as we couldn't fly then. I remember a lot of people getting angry about having to walk down all the stairs, when there was path right below the first island. I myself had even made a modreq to ask for a command to be made to have us warp to the end of the spawn, essentially on ground level 0,0. lpoql and p1ng both responded with excited agreement, however we had a rev change before implementing it. If we do have a complex spawn in the future, I do suggest a command to warp to the edge of it (even though i can now make a home myself) because it makes it feel more welcoming to the player to have the work done for them on things like that. While I agree, the hubserver wouldn't be MCpublic's normal way, it does have a few benefits. the first being that we can show All of our servers, the next being that we can forward player count, mcbouncer stuff into the hub world (we'd have like 200 people online at any given time because of the combined total) and we would be avoiding the silly traffic from those who simply go to the ban list websites and constantly find C to grief, or ask us if C has pvp... Instead they will reach an editable hub and see their choices clearly laid out. This can also be used to unify our worlds a bit too perhaps /mail could then be received on all 3 servers the same way. and perhaps I can then direct message and clanchat with someone cross-server too. A last potential advantage we could have from a HUB is that it would act a DDOS protection but that would rely on a ton of setup changes and would rather let tech decide on how useful and plausible that would be on our servers.
  24. Rock: Well Rock, unless KitchenSink or Lolno are a part of our security mods for flight, then it isn't too terribly hard. Nocheatplus only recently got the flightspeed check, likewise if we are using it on PVE and S for stopping flight hackers, we can just disable it on C, and instead add the playerclipevent.class which would act as our alternative for C. It would send a warning if people are clipping through blocks. But regardless, its something more for the techs to consider because its a good and evil thing. Although in terms of the test server, I do agree with you, I indeed brought it up too that we have a survival mode on C as it is, I suppose though it is the guise that only a few players will do it, while others will fly, and others more will switch between... The idea for a creative server in survival mode would FORCE them to all be flightless. While I myself am not a fan... I have heard many of our PVE and S visitors say... "Creative was more fun when we all worked together, like we did when we couldn't fly" I've also been told "The only reason I am on PVE is because it's the closest thing to old C, if only I had unlimited blocks" So I suppose the idea is slightly in a direction we may want to consider I mean, we are unique with our PVE server which is essentially S, but no pvp, maybe this is the popular alternative to C that we need? I mean, do I see it as a step backwards, yes. However They prove a point about the community aspect. Teamwork is very much lost in the post-flight C revisions. The lack of flight may bring teamwork back to C. Buzzin: Hehe yea, but the 5 prior revisions of the post made me feel as if I was directly attacking people, getting horribly angry, and being an all around pesty complainer.
