  1. I really dislike the idea of allowing roleplaying in general chat again. I think the current clan chat system has been working very well and the players have been pretty good about keeping those things to clan chat. If this is the direction that people want to take the server in, then so be it, but unless you plan on making C a server dedicated to roleplay, then I'd suggest keeping the current system. Aside from that, I like all the other ideas you brought up. I would like to see even more WE capabilities on this server. As long as it's set up in a way where it won't be abused, I'm all for anything that makes building less tedious. Far too many builds are started and scrapped, and I think if there was a faster, less boring way to do certain things, the number of unfinished builds would drop.
  2. While placing stained glass for the dome, I was running into this when I destroyed blocks. After a quick test, it looks like this happens when you destroy any type of block with a stained glass block in your hand.
  3. If at all possible, could you do one of me holding a rake? I guess a wooden hoe would also do :P
  4. First contest went great! We had ~30 people on C! That being said, I'm not sure if you've heard of the streamer on Twitch, Lodeclaw, but he runs a very successful speedbuild league (which I suggest everyone checks out) and he uses http://ardentforge.net/themes.html to come up with themes.
  5. Back when I was planning on doing something similar, I came up with a short list of ideas: Houses Apartments Hotels Library Town Hall Rail station Bar/Tavern Restaurants (Could also do fast food) Gardens/Parks/Nature Statues Farms Afk box Skyscrapers Futuristic/Spaceship Wild West And finally, free builds, where contestants can build in whatever style they want. On a side note, would it be possible to allow the placement of flowing water or lava in the speed building area?
  6. I've seen these done on many other forums, figured I might as well start one here. So what are you guys listening to? I'd love to find some new music :)
  7. I would definitely love to help out. I already have a four-square arena built. When I tried running mine, nobody showed up, but I definitely think I could have advertised more. If you'd like to see how a successful speed build event is run, I definitely suggest checking out LodeClaw's twitch stream.
  8. Splinter cell, Serious sam, The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind was probably my favorite) EDIT: If we're talking about single games, I'd have to say Saints Row 2. I picked this game up off the $20 game shelf at Walmart one summer with my friends and I've played through it at least a couple dozen times. Such a fun game, so many good times. I'm not a hug fan of the direction the series headed after 2, but I'm sure they're still fun to play.
  9. Sounds fun, hopefully I'll get out of class early enough tonight to make the meeting.
  10. GOOD TIMES! Proximity mines were like a camper's best friend.
  11. I was fortunate enough to have an older brother who loved video games, so I got to play all his stuff. I remember playing Sonic and VectorMan on Sega Genesis quite a bit, as well as Goldeneye and Wave Racer for N64. Also used to play Ecco the Dolphin for Sega Game Gear. Good times.
  12. So what seems to be the general consensus with this? Is toggle-able PvP and/or PvP regions something that would be worth exploring on C? We could set up a poll as long as the staff doesn't see any reason why we shouldn't have PvP on C.
  13. Gsand, you brilliant bastard :)
  14. I was afraid there might be some disagreements. Hopefully we can get a CAdmin in here and have a full length discussion. If this is something that a majority of the players want, then I'm totally cool with cPvP. I'm just afraid of the possibility of it being abused versus the limited benefit that I see it having.
  15. The problem I see with this is, let's say I'm digging in survival mode with an enchanted pick and a beacon because it's faster than clicking. What's stopping somebody from teleporting to me with an enchanted sword, switching to survival, and killing me with one hit? Now I have to teleport back to my build, give myself all the items that I lost, and re-enchant my tools.
  16. I think I gotta go with Office Space
  17. This is a tough one. I initially voted in favor of hard mode, but after reading some of the replies I changed my vote. I like the idea of making a more challenging and therefore more rewarding PvE experience. However, I can definitely see this deterring new players and with the current state of the server's population, I'd rather avoid that. I can remember first joining the server and having a really hard time surviving and getting established due to the fact that I was new and the idea of building in a big city intimidated me. I guess what this really boils down to is deciding who do we want to cater to? Do we want to increase difficulty to make things more interesting for experienced players? Or do we make things easier for new players to help build the server's population?
  18. Hey all, Something that came to my attention with the start of this new rev on C is the fact that when in survival mode, PvP is enabled. I'm not sure if this was intentional but I figured I would bring it up to get some opinions on the matter. Personally, I think PvP should be disabled on C altogether. I believe this is what was done previously. Allowing PvP could cause a lot of drama and annoyance for people who enjoy building in survival mode. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that pearls, potions, and bows are all disabled on C, so even if people were to set up PvP arenas, they really would be lacking key features in the PvP experience. What do you guys think? Should we be asking the CAdmins to remove PvP from C when in survival mode?
  19. The arena has been finished! If anyone is still interested in doing this, please let me know. I'm going to need some help getting things going and I could use some suggestions as far as rules will go. I'm looking at holding the first speed building contest next weekend perhaps, depending on my schedule. I'll put an announcement up eventually on the subreddit, but I still have a lot of work to do. I still need to decide on rules and format. Should I have a panel of judges? Should I have the chat vote? Or should I just pick winners myself? What would you guys like to see? Also, I plan on prettying up the area around the arena, as well as adding a CTA connection. Let me know if you're interested in helping with any of this. I'm still open to suggestions and feedback, so please, let me know what you think!
  20. Man, I'm mad I missed the CTF. It looks like it was a barrel of fun! Maybe next time I won't be busy!
  21. Or you could call in sick >:D Edit: Also, how about a 24 hour cookie clicker marathon to really put some hair on your chest?
  22. With the arrival of the new revision, I'll be streaming a bit more, if anyone is still interested. I'll try to get my speed building area set up shortly. Making Progress!!!
  23. Ooh nifty! I have basic ones made saying "Starting stream soon" and "Be right back" but they're really just 3rd person view screenshots with text over them edit: These are the graphics I'm currently using. http://imgur.com/a/24X86
  24. I was planning on doing 4 plots and mixing up the time limit based on what theme was picked. I like the idea of doing team builds too! I'm not sure how exactly I'll pick themes, maybe I'll come up with a list and have players vote each round, or I could do it randomly. I also have to figure out how the voting will work as far as winners go.
  25. Hey guys, I've heard of people doing 24 hour gaming marathons to raise money for charities. Would this be something we could do as a community? I think it would be awesome if we could get together and make a difference to the world doing something we love. I don't know much about the details of this though, I'm just throwing out the idea. What do you guys think?
