  1. Figured should just leave a record of affected times :P
  2. 8:51 am EST, Creative. Lagspikes, mass disconnects. 9:12 am EST, Creative, ^
  3. Currently going on, has been since.... 2 hours ago? 2 & 1/2? C's players are all disconnecting, popped onto P for a minute, happening there too.
  4. In the past month, I've rekindled my love for the majority of the Pokemon Universe, first through replaying ROMs, then through the wonderful mod Pixelmon. Within the past week on Rev25, I've successfully recreated a 2:1 model of Saffron City (FR/LG), including a fully functional Silph Co. Building (Tardis'd interiors, teleport pads, etc). The success with this project has inspired me to recreate the majority of a Pokemon region on Nerd, to the best of my ability, on a 2:1 scale. There are still several things to consider, including the extent of the recreation, the decision to be 2:1 or 1:1, as well as thing about whether or not to really make it on Nerd, but for now the only thing I'm concerned with is finding like-minded, talented individuals who not only have the desire to assist in this re-creation, but to be able to do so without being nagged to (as well as holding the right amount of creative insight to build independently in a consistent style). A project of this magnitude requires quick, effective effort in order to avoid loss of interest & lack of space (taken up by other builders). To ensure that I've got a committed set of persons to oversee the construction of the (to be decided) region, I'm hosting this contest. All you need to do to enter for a position is to recreate a generic Poke building on a 2:1 scale from the FireRed/LeafGreen games, and post an image of it in this thread. FR/LG is being selected for a number of reasons, the most relevant being that it shows the most detail of the original Kanto region, and I'm a sucker for detail. The following buildings can be submitted for consideration: PokeCenters PokeMarts Gyms Special, smaller buildings (fighting dojo, pewter museum, mr fuji's house, etc)(not larger buildings (Pokemon tower, Silph Co, Celadon Dept Store, etc)) Interiors are not necessary, as all interiors are planned to be Tardis'd, but if you'd like to make separate interiors (1:1 scale) for your submission, be my guest. The contest will end on the final day of Creative Rev25 to give ample time for specifying details before building. Questions? Ask! Best of luck to you all!
  5. You'd think you'd have learned by now that we can see just how far you go to attempt to troll. Knock it off.
  6. Nope. Tie, they both win. However, Eehee wins more for that AWESOME door he made first, and because Unce smells. Truly, a door to my heart Eehee.
  7. Looking through the rest of the logs, however, as I'm sure anyone with the ability to has done, would show that in the 20ish minutes beforehand Dunk was just being a troll, as he has on each instance of his bans, which subsequently led to him targeting another player/players in a trollish arguement, before crying wolf & claiming to be abused. On more than one disturbance he's been involved with, you can almost literally copy & paste that series of actions that Dunk undertook. He's clearly not learned from his past actions, and needs to be instructed further on what we do & do not allow on our servers.
  8. Also worth noting that Dunk antagonized said "offenders" beforehand, and has a history of doing so ( https://nerd.nu/forum/index.php?/user/1245-dunk514/ ) (See Topics Created, ban appeals).
  9. Imposing rules that don't conform the the listed ones was what I was referring to, though skipping steps in a predetermined set of actions staff members are TRAINED TO TAKE is another. As for your warning Andrew yourself, I find that to be new information, as I was told that Kitcatbar was tasked by you to handle the situation, as you were occupied with other matters. I've already stated that Andrew's trollish actions weren't correct ones to take, and that he acknowledges that he'd been warned in the past, however transitioning from a generalized circlejerk (which was in fact what was going on beforehand, had gone on in the past, and was not interrupted at any other point in this instance) to a targeted attack on a player with NSFW content is, in this case, a mindboggling-ly misled connection. "No sexism, racism, homophobia or any type of hate speech, especially targeted at specific users (harassment)." "Please mark all NSFW material linked as such, and be aware of who is in the channel. Do not send NSFW material to minors or people who are not interested in seeing it." These are the two rules being called into question at this time, none of the others bear weight on the situation at hand. If you'll recall, the image of Ron Jeremy, though he is associated with NSFW activities, was not in itself an NSFW image. Tompreuss declined to ask to be left out of the aforementioned circlejerk, remaining present & silent throughout the ordeal. Without asking to be left out, or stating anything on the matter, Andrew & other members of the channel at the time would have no knowledge that Tom was "not interested in seeing" or hearing about the content. Furthermore, it was Tompreuss's decision to open the link containing the image, and to therefore involve himself in the activities at hand. His taking offense to that content is his own choice, and rightly so, but claiming it to be harassment with the aforementioned conditions is out of line. To put it in other words, someone heard something about themselves after involving themselves in a discussion, took offense to the discussion at hand, and asked someone else to handle the situation claiming it to be harassing. You tell me here, on recorded text, that that's alright for someone, anyone, to do. To cry wolf after involving themselves. Tell me, and the rest of Nerd, that that's acceptable behavior for an Administrator.
  10. I've been asked by Andrew to weigh in on the situation, as we've (for lack of better wording) brushed over the main issue at hand. Before making my points though, please note that I'm not in support of Andrew's negative actions in mumble, now or ever. Andrew was not warned by Tompreuss that he was acting out of line at the time in question. Regardless of knowing what he was doing or not, the issue here is not Andrew's conduct (wrong as it was), which could have been ceased simply with a warning, but the rash action taken by Tompreuss. I've been led to believe that there is a history between the two, which should not hold a bearing on the situation, but based on the presented facts I'm under the impression did in fact come into play. You, Dray/Den, have noted that Andrew's been warned in the past for his actions, there's no denying that fact. However, I'm fairly certain that Tompreuss did not have the knowledge that another offense would subsequently lead to a ban, as his previous warning would have been his last. Based on that grounded assumption, (as every moderator should) Tompreuss should have warned Andrew that he was crossing a line, especially since he's claiming that he was being harassed. Being spoken to by fellow players verbally, by our own standards in practice, does NOT hold the same weight as a moderator warning a player to cease an activity violating rules/code of conduct, and should NEVER replace a staff member's actions to be taken. No warning was given at the time of the incident, nor in the time leading up to Andrew's ban, by Tom or any other staff member potentially involved. Tompreuss never once asked to be left out of the discussion at hand and never spoke to Andrew at the time in question.Tompreuss's jump to labeling the situation as harassment is simply that, a jump (of the proverbial gun), and has in turn cost Andrew his Mumble privileges. I'm not saying that Tompreuss is in the wrong, completely, as it's every staff member's right to pass off a situation to fellow staff members if they feel that they're compromised or just cannot handle the situation at the time. However, the jump straight to the assumption of harassment coupled with the known history between Andrew & Tom conclusively suggests that a bias was brought into play for the situation. Tom's own history of imposing his own set of parameters on the Mumble rules/code of conduct further supports that he is prone to make judgements not in keeping with Nerd standards. On these points, I'd like the following actions taken: 1- Andrew's ban length cut in half. There's no denying that he was being a dick, however he was not given the direct opportunity to correct his behavior due to a moderator's error in judgement via a pre-existing bias. 2- A retraining of all staff members in Mumble Conduct, and a closer watch taken on its primary staff residents. I appreciate your time, and the effort you've all made in considering the facts of this issue, as well as your focus on the true issues at hand. Further debate of these points is welcome, and explanations for any facts you have questions about can be provided with a message to myself or a look through our logs.
  11. To my knowledge, and with confirmation from Slide yesterday, /plotme auto is disabled. The use of that command would claim plots outside of the world border.
  12. In any case, an evaluation of a returning staff member's abilities should be conducted before any consideration of allowing their abilities to be returned to them, with the exception of shorter cases of absence of a staff member's own volition. Cases surrounding staff members who've been forcibly de-modded are, have been, and will be subject to more scrutiny in evaluation, considering the circumstances of their de-modding as well as actions to public/private knowledge they may have taken in the interim. That being said, there are several instances to the general public's knowledge where the facts pertaining to a de-mod were skewed, biased, or acted on rashly, all of which should and most likely are treated with appropriate leniency in recompense for errors in judgement at the time of actions taken.
  13. ^What I was saying, that as it currently is, there's nothing directly available to just pop in & turn on to facilitate that. Sure the techs'd appreciate anyone's help in rigging something up for that kind of thing, if we really wanted C to move in that direction.
  14. Curious as to the reasoning for this. Seems extremely limiting without much of a reason, tech-wise.
  15. Dibs on a plot, got something special in mind -w- Edit: Drafted Dumbo52 & Bardidley. maybe more -w-
  16. You are, as a moderator, entrusted with the physical ability to handle modreqs on any of our servers. By that point alone, instruction for conducting yourself, as well as learning the specific rules for each server, should be a part of initial training. Whether or not time is had at the time of initial training is not the concern, it should be taken upon oneself not to do anything with one's powers until ALL rules are properly understood in how they should be enforced, among other aspects. If timing IS an issue, another session of training can supposedly be arranged at any time, at your request. Recent developments, among past, have led me to this firm belief.
  17. While that's a great idea for ensuring there's always someone online for each server, that doesnt solve the current issue, being that staff members in general tend to stick to one server, only going to another when asked for help. While this isn't the case in some instances, it is in the majority of them, as many of you have noticed. Moderators should be expected to act for the community as a whole, not just one of our servers. Some things that might help in bringing this to pass: Server-specific training for all servers in initial mod training. Some might argue against the fact, but its become a matter of "learn the general commands on c, then go with instructing members to p/s (respectively) if you're a p/s mod." For "c mods" training ends there, on c, with no additional information, other than to ask for help when moderating on other servers.
  18. At this time, are we limiting our advertisements to Reddit, or can other formats/venues be suggested?
  19. Somehow overlooked that post, I'll get right on that. Anyone with a suggestion for including general topics, gimme a shout.
  20. Would give us an excuse to expand C's border to the next set.
  21. In regard to moderator selection, I have only this to say: We enlist additional staff members based on a need for them, not just for the sake of doing so. Does one of our servers, which has a minimum 8 staff members on at all times, need more help? Hint Hint PvE, no it doesn't. Current moderators, take it upon yourselves to expand outside of your comfort zones, learn the additional rules for the other servers, ones that weren't gone over in your initial mod training. The need for staff on all servers is ever-present. Look for how you can help at all times, not just when help is asked for.
  22. What we need, at the moment, is to find new source of players (specifically for C, and for the servers in general). The only way to accomplish doing so is to advertise, and not to make a contest out of doing it. While a nice idea, it's not an effective method for it, and in my eyes seems to only be a delaying method for actually advertising. We've had more than enough time to consider the sources, the image we want to put out, everything involved in the process since it was first suggested months ago. What I propose is the following, in reference to this point: -A more interesting, less-barren, easier to embrace Lobby spawn should be constructed. Now. The current Lobby, in addition to paying no attention to the player-spawn orientation, is just sad-looking. It suits our purpose to just exist, but little else. A new spawn, more arrow-shaped, will do wonders for new players connecting to our network. -I've seen that FatherSouth has provided a temporary lobby world to us. This should be used, at least for now, as it's less likely to drive off players looking for a professional-looking/feeling server. -Direct connection IPs should not be posted outside of the game. While a nice convenience, we want new players to see everything we have to offer, and not just jump into what they think they will enjoy. By forcing a player through the Lobby world, we will present all our options to them, which might otherwise go unnoticed. Direct connection IPs should be posted in the spawn of each individual servers, along with signs advertising the other servers. Should staff members concerned with physically creating/writing advertisements for the server- among other players, I am more than interested in assisting doing so. Contact me with your plans as soon as possible, or post your status on this effort with the same haste.
  23. Congrats Newt! You found a way to do it yourself! Meaning its possible for anyone to with enough patience & dedication. Or they could use the dispenser trick. Or they could wait for a mod to place it for them. Any of those ways currently work. "Firstly, C is a different creature, because buckets are infinite, so the ability to grief with water and lava is much greater. Safebuckets should probably remain on C, but we're talking about S. I also think chaos is a different beast, as griefing is allowed." Just to take note on this, to say that each server is its own beast where laws governing griefing is concerned is inaccurate. We know from experience that the potential for griefing, for bypassing protections with flowing water, is & will always be there. We know that some people are more inclined to use buckets as their go-to method for doing so. Limiting the use of buckets in that regard, with those intentions, is one of the sanest decisions Nerd has ever made. So you have to wait a bit for a moderator to get to you, its your choice whether to stand around & wait or go out & cut some throats. Due to the ease of /fixwater, and the ability to just place flowing water in general, modreqs for flowing water are usually snatched up quickly as a moderator notices them. If there's not a mod on, that's no-ones fault. If there's one on, and they're in the middle of their own gameplay, same deal. You'll be gotten to when you'll be gotten to. Now mind you, there's nothing I enjoy more on other pvp servers than dropping a bucket of lava onto someone, except the use of an occasional tnt cannon, but in the interest of protecting the landscape & players from unfortunate attacks by those who wish us harm, I believe that Safebuckets is the proper choice to protect our servers as a whole. The first weapon we have against griefers, hackers, etc is prevention of their actions in the first place. Safebuckets, along with NCP and other tools, helps everyone to prevent possible issues. A 3-minute waiting period for a pond to be filled is a small price to pay, but well-worth it.
  24. I should also note that I'm certain that to be the case, as my experience levels were switched as well.
  25. Certainly. Firstly, to address the chests themselves, that was my base's initial storage area before I created the multipurpose area further into the base. Towards the beginning of the revision, as you're well-aware, there were several restarts & rollbacks that inconvenienced a number of players. I believe it was around 2-3pm on the 22nd when either the last or second-to last of such errors occurred. At the time, I was in non-modmode. After the server finished its tantrum, I logged back in to find my inventory blank, but hey, no biggie. Several/10 minutes later(ish) I noticed..... what I believe to remember to be crop grief modreqs. When switching to modmode, I found that every item that'd previously been in my inventory had been placed into my modmode inventory. I believe this to be the first time I'd activated modmode on S, and that may have something to do with it. At this time I believed that my player data had become jumbled in the reset, so I took action to fix it by swapping inventories between the two modes, then went on my way. As you're most likely aware by the server logs (by your evident confusion by modmode's not being able to pick up items or the lack of commands issued to spawn such items), I did not spawn such items that were placed into my modmode player mode. As to what became of the items after the chest's destruction, the majority were moved & sorted into the chests in my mulitpurpose room, others are at the bottom of a lava pit (after a small creeper accident), one saddle in particular is now on a deceased horse, lost to a flaming arrow.
