  1. I'm kinda on the fence about disabling friendly-fire. I'd prefer it to stay as it is, as I'm accustomed to it, but I'd be all for experimenting with it. I think that with FF turned off, clans could properly go to war with each-other without regard of harming team mates. That's the best case scenario in my mind, at least.

  2. It's essentially a way to save time from flying around everywhere. When we want to explore the map and want to get somewhere quickly, we spash ourselves with Speed 2 potions and hold down 'W'. Enderpearling would be a lot more fun and far more convenient, but my main argument is that the positives of Enderpearls depend on the scenario.

Oh, you want to escape a massive building and there's a 1x1 hole in the wall? Sorry bud, you'll have to go all the way ar- oh, wait, I have Enderpearls!

Pearls are a fun tool in Creative mode, and could even help with enclosed PvP arenas. Another point I'd like to raise is that there really aren't many negatives if players can /modreq for a place they own to be off-limits to pearls.

Whether we want to dick around with eachother or build massive structures, Enderpearls are always a nice thing to have around.

  3. Okay, I can agree with those reasons. But, how's about Enderpearls? As Skraps said, they're vanilla. I know for a fact that it's possible to prevent people from pearling to certain places, perhaps maze-makers, parkour-makers and spleef-makers, (etc) could just /modreq No Pearl Zone ? That's with less abilities than Compass, and with added /modreq-able restrictions.
"But Eehee, people won't know that it's modreq-able!"
If it's implemented, it'll likely be announced in the new revision's subreddit/forum post. If people still don't pick up on it, we could set a [server] announcement for it.

  4. Alright, I'm just going to start typing whatever comes to mind, after having skimmed through this.

Wayne, I very much agree with having /tpmode allow as default. This'd also clear away a problem that many players have been having for quite some time now, and that's the bug in which a /tp request doesn't show up in a player's chat. Players usually have the common sense to to /tell (player) tpaccept, but that isn't always the case. In all honesty, I don't think this is something we should put off until the next rev, I'd prefer having this in sooner as it's not so much an addition but a simple improvement which'll make player interaction so much easier.

Compass? Pretty please, yes. I honestly can't see negatives to implementing it, other than users accessing places they shouldn't. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't there a way to stop users from Compass-ing to certain places, as with Enderpearls? If so, that essentially just makes Compass a more convenient way of pearling to somewhere, just without the wait time and with an added ability to pass through walls.

Arrows? Again, yes please. As I've said elsewhere, a bunch of Survival-Creative users have wanted this implemented as of late, the only thing in the way is TNT activation. But surely there's a fix for that. I can think of two - disable Flame enchanting for bows, or modify our version of Bukkit to prevent TNT from being ignited by arrows (not sure how the technical stuff there works, but I believe it's possible.)

As for the Nether/End biomes, I guess an End biome isn't really needed, but a Nether world would be nice. Every time we have a Nether world, it's interesting and fun to explore. There's fountains of lava and small crannies that lead into giant chasms. If we kept the size of it small, say 1000x1000, the lag wouldn't be as severe. We'd have to cut back on the lava/fire heavy areas, but that wouldn't affect the terrain too much, which is what most players actually like about the Nether.

  5. What are the two heaviest things that you could glue together using dribble?

The Dribble dimension and this one. How do you think I got here?

What's the strongest animal from your country you could pick a fight with and win?

    Also the game.

Perhaps a dingo, but they usually come in packs. If I had a 1v1, I could have a reasonable chance of winning, but they're fast and hard to firmly grasp.

  6. In response to Difficult1's post above, (Sorry, I can't seem to quote on this laptop I'm using)
that would be terribly inefficient, disruptive and simply lazy. If anything, it would drive players away from the servers altogether because they may've been looking forward to finishing x build on PvE on x day, but they cannot simply because there is a event they would rather avoid attending taking place on Creative.

Sorry if I sound rude here, but that's simply a terrible idea. It wouldn't do any good for Creative except force players to join it for a short while, eventually logging off out of frustration due to being unable to access other servers.

It would require a lot of organisation, every single week, and would send nearly all the admins into an overwork.

We need a well thought out, all around passive solution, not one that forces players to do something they mightn't want to - that's not what nerd.nu wants to be.

  7. Andrew4210, Twitchy1138 and myself are currently staffing an unofficial plug.dj room for nerd.nu! Here's the link:

    What is it?

It's essentially a live music sharing website, on which you can search media from YouTube or Soundcloud, add it to a playlist, rearrange said playlist and queue for your turn to play media to whomever is in the room. It's intended for music uses but there can be exceptions at times. There's an upvoting system which gives users points, which can be spent to buy a small in-site avatar. Downvoting increases the likelihood of a song being skipped, depending on the amount of users in the channel. It's great fun and is an excellent way of getting to know eachother's tastes outside of Minecraft. If we can get some general traffic into the room, it'd be step in the right direction for nerd.nu's expansion into new areas.

    Hope to see you there!

  8. Did you merely adopt the spam? Or were you born in it, molded by it? Did you not see the rest of chat until you were already EeHee? By then was it nothing to you but reminding? Does the chat betray us because it belongs to you?

  9. Do you Dribble?

    Yeah, a lot. It's a good thing.

I'm so confused by this AMA?

Putting a question mark on the end of a statement leaves me unsure about how to answer this.

I'm pretty sure he has less of an idea.

This is not a question, /ban Magnyus .

  10. 1: The Map

-Right now we are looking at a map with size 4000x4000.

-Since this map was heavily worldpainted, we would like to go with a full vanilla seed, with normal sized biomes.

-We think we have a good seed if we go vanilla terrain.

4Kx4K seems like a good size for me, but:

Will the map be expanded over time, and to what size if so? If we were to expand the map, I'd personally suggest expanding it by an extra 1K, but as Amplified land. I'm not sure how staff would go about linking up the biomes correctly, but it should be achieve-able and worth it as a result. If Amplified land is a bit of a leap, would it be possible to extend the map as End or Nether region? That's never been attempted on nerd before to my knowledge, and it could be successful if done right. Again, those would be big leaps.

    2: Spawn

-We have a good idea for spawn but would like to keep that a secret for all of you.

-You will be able to fly out of spawn immediately, no need to navigate tunnels or a maze.

-Spawning with a rulebook the first time logging in.

-Spawn City will be much different, not giant square wool colored plots.  Again going to keep the "theme" a little secret for now.

-Spawn City with prebuilt roads (not straight boring lines, like real roads) and different regions (houses, city, etc.)

-No CTA station prebuilt.  If someone wants to take the initiative and do a rail station and rail lines, by all means go for it.

Some nice changes here, primarily the prebuilt roads and exiting of spawn. It makes sense that you want most of this secret, so I won't prod you too much here: Will the CTA be supported by staff at all? The current workforce is a rather small one, and whilst efficient it will need some support to get back up on it's feet. Not many players know what the CTA even is, despite its days of glory. Understood, it isn't easy to revive, but it is possible. Another question regarding the CTA, will there be a reserved spawn plot for it? I feel that if the HQ were only to be built somewhere on the usual land it wouldn't have a chance of gaining recognition. If you'd feel very strongly against a spawn plot for the CTA, would it be possible to give it a warp in the least?

3: Changes on how C are run

-Allowing arrows to work for a better PVP experience.

-We are discussing having regions be /modreqable for the region to change the biome  When it's appropriate to implement is being discussed.

-More community events.  These were a great success and brought so many players.

I'm very pleased with enabling arrows, that's something that's been in the minds of a few Creative/Survival players for a while and will go a long way in supporting PvP for Creative.

Could we get a little more info on the modreqable biomes by chance? Will moderators be able to change biomes, or just admins? Would there be a size restriction? Would there be ways to prevent awkward terrain messups such as a mountain of Grass sticking out of a square in the middle of a desert? Would the terrain of a /modreq-d biome be generated randomly or staff-player selected?

Sorry for the poking, was curious. Some nice things I'm seeing, looking forwards to experiencing it!
