  1. If I'm around I can stand in for cannon fodder :O
  2. Definitely would be cool to throw in some strange new gameplay mechanics to make it more interesting (I propose making Chaos Emeralds drop from villagers, which can be used with 60 XP levels and two seconds to unleash a very powerful explosion centered on the user that will instantly kill anyone regardless of armor in the blast radius :O. Also point and click to teleport there for one XP level. On second thoughts that might deter PvP.) Otherwise I think the main worry is that the player count will drop dramatically as the revision progresses. Maybe this is technically tedious, but would there be caveats for what counts toward "most kills"? I can imagine players camping spawn for it ._.
  3. Ahhhh I get it now, my fault; was wondering how after paying Deaygo back we got more than we raised O.o
  4. I think there's a math error somewhere unless we have actually secretly been paying Deaygo to pay for the second server :O
  5. Boatjacking is a good skill to have when being chased on the high seas :O EDIT: Actually I don't think I did boatjacking when being chased that time, but there was one night that I did that a lot. Was, um...good. Very useful for escaping.
  6. I admit I am actually in agreement with the parameters bit - more defined boundaries (or defined lack of boundaries :O) would be useful. I'm not a huge fan of project takeovers, but that may partly be due to my predispositions as a Padmin (on P we generally don't allow players to take over other players' builds, incomplete or otherwise, for any reason). To ameliorate this, though it may be more work, maybe request some sort of a detailed (or as detailed as possible) plan from the original builder on their intended implementation? That way there is a guide for someone who does take up the project to build according to the original builder's plan, or as close to it as possible.
  7. An early screenshot of some of the stone brick structures you may have seen (elaborate stone frogs, not shown here, were MasterCommaThe's) before they were pasted into the map: http://i.imgur.com/iBzfUhV.png
  8. I'm with Master on his point about balancing the teams, though maybe buff the badly losing team to encourage closing a massive point gap (I thought Strength 2 and Regen 2 would be useful there, or some other cool special ability to make survivability and flag stealing easier ), at least until the point gap closes back to within a certain range. The other alternative I can think of is active autobalancing, which will probably not be too well received ._..
  9. I'm worried it will upset team balance too much if one of the spawners is secured by the other team - an away team that secures the spawner can easily set up and maintain a siege of the home team's base (by dropping their color wool around the exits) and shuttle flags home while the home team is occupied with breaking the siege and just getting out of base. It'll take a lot of effort to regain footing once it happens.
  10. Relevant event announcement alert on P has been set.
  11. Same with any stone structures you find on jungle islands and any 11x7 reliefs you find in the hills of the volcano island.
  12. I responded to MasterCommaThe's request for testing survivability in his buff towers - my loadout was unenchanted iron armor, 1 unenchanted dia sword, 1 unenchanted bow, 64 arrows, and I was alone (got hints from where to go from MasterCommaThe to speed it up a little). The mushroom buff tower was survivable with that loadout - an interesting observation is that the zombies, while numerous, move slowly, so it's almost like "find the right way up before the wall of zombies catches up to you or be clever about preventing them from getting to you." For added sadism, if it's possible to equip all spawned zombies with depth strider 3 boots (I've not tested it myself though ><) that might speed up their swimming a bit and put more pressure on the players. We noticed some things modified and/or unintended on the central volcano buff that made it trivial to enter, trigger the buff, and escape, one of which caused there to be no guardians in the pool when I got there >< so would like to try again some time later today with them around. After speaking with MasterCommaThe, I found that the actual thing that triggers the buff is intended to be a pressure plate. Is that possible to implement, or if not possible, is it possible to fake a punch to the real buff block with it? Alternatively, is it possible to trigger a buff by running through a block (the location of the pressure plate)? (An additional question I realized is, if that is done, how will zombies or other mobs stepping on a pressure plate be handled?) (Looks like redesigns were done to accommodate beacon block buffs)
  13. Won't hurt to modreq - we have offered to do so in the past.
  14. I've hit the first checkpoint in the maze CROCK - did some testing there and realized my earlier warning about standing next to a sign or other wall-mounted thing obstructing the sleep location was unfounded, so I apologize for the earlier false info >< think someone fixed it. I did notice for a particular location that respawning puts players on the maze roof though O.o EDIT: Found it - standing on the blocks next to the wall opposite the sleep sign and redstone torch will put players on the maze roof when respawning. Maybe add some walls up top to ensure players fall through the right hole to re-enter the maze?
  15. I'll try to stop by Event tonight too for maze running. (Warning: I'm terrible at navigation and will probably go mad inside the maze.)
  16. Alright, I've seeded a bunch of stone poles and toads on the second set of jungle islands, as well as two poles and a walkway, the relief sculpture, and the stone lizard. Unity relief is also inserted in a mountain on the volcano island: http://i.imgur.com/FnvOQ2y.png I'm going to call the ruin seeding done. EDIT: I can take a stab at protections for the base structures (would need specifics about how the protections need to be done), but I won't be offended if someone else gets to them first :O
  17. brb, getting blown out of the water. It looks very much awesome! Could I paste this in the second set of jungle islands instead of mine :O?
  18. I've finished bushing up the (hopefully) last of the tree slices in the second jungle area (two islands at /home buzzie71 jungle2). The four stone god faces have been dropped on the two islands. I'm looking to add one more of the relief sculpture (one winged thing, two mechanoids, four warriors) and the stone lizard somewhere in the jungles, then fill the other empty spaces in the jungle with toads, spires, fire posts, maybe another sort-of entrance like earlier. Barring unforeseen improbable unfavorable occurrences in real life, four days will be plenty of time to finish this off. I think I've mentioned this before, but there is a third relief sculpture depicting Unity that could be added in somewhere - maybe somewhere in the hills of the volcano island? For KOTH testing, perhaps some staff play-testing is in order? Might be good to see how the arena is actually navigated during gameplay, where the chokepoints are, etc. I've seen enough of the map to think that, during the actual event, I should stay at home (team base) and take a support role anyway - I'd be available for the play-testing.
  19. Add also another line of sliced trees to quick-fix on one of the two jungle islands in /home buzzie71 jungle2 >< EDIT: If leaking is to be done I can start thinking about how to, um...accidentally do that.
  20. Reporting in to say that I've finished bushing up the obvious tree slices in jungle2. If anyone asks about other ones I missed, I will claim that it was an act of Notch and they should be very very scared or something. Ruin seeding will commence now, will probably take a few hours of effort to finish. EDIT: Found more tree slices, will fix those up first...
  21. Word of warning - this has been proposed in the past (eg. here), and has not been implemented then for a few reasons, some listed here: Building something up to a certain level of development for a portal is easier said than executed - criteria would ideally have to be a lot more clear-cut for a (gameplay-wise) advantageous resource to be given out to avoid accusations of unfair play. Additionally, portal placement during the rev (placing a corresponding portal in the Nether/overworld, whether by staff or by game) would need to be handled somehow. Knowledge of how this is done could also be used to intentionally block someone from getting the portal placed. The potential for drama due to this process is estimated to be high. TL;DR is that a method of portal distribution more desirable than our current system has remained elusive even now. Not trying to shut down discussion, but this has historically been a difficult problem to crack.
  22. Planted an extra toad and spire...somewhere on jungle1. I flew around the map and guessed the islands were [redacted] and found the second set of jungle islands - I have it currently set as /home buzzie71 jungle2 and will attempt to seed it with ruins like I did with jungle1 (if one team has potential distractions close to base, the other one should too :P). Other than that I did run into more quirky generations: http://imgur.com/a/0UKEn First one seems to be a terrain-slice effect from far away (it was difficult to tell, I had to sit a few voxels away from the world border in order to see it). Probably known, don't think it's that hugely important to fix it?... (could always drop the render distance a bit) I found another line of sliced trees :S. Barlimore, how did you fix up the previous set on the other jungle island? If I get there first next time I can take a crack at re-bushing the trees. EDIT: I've started adding leaves to the trees (place them, then //replace 18:7 18:3), but found a perpendicular slice line somewhere in that forest as well.
  23. http://imgur.com/a/ZKWJ2 Planted a toad - figured it would be better to get design out onto the map than to keep working on the head ._. Planted two of the fire poles on the beach, decided to arrange them to suggest some sort of a forgotten path. Lit the poles on fire since they weren't in the jungle. While flying around I noticed this odd artifact - seems for some trees, part of the tree just got chopped off during generation or something? ._. Also not mentioned here, I planted a similar toad on the northwest jungle island that's just barely attached to /home buzzie71 jungle1. I forgot to screenshot it, then tried to fly around and relocate it with no luck. I think I'm running out of spaces to hide things in that jungle island without clearing away more than a few leaves, and I am admittedly hiding things in no real discernable arrangement. I'll continue to do that tomorrow, but I anticipate running out of places very soon. Additional edit: there's one more relief sculpture (same size as the others) depicting Unity which I do want to slip in as an Easter egg somewhere. If more are required to depict other things, let me know too and I'll see what I can come up with. Otherwise, I'm starting to sense that I should probably be aiding in something else rather than ruin-building-and-planting...? ._.
  24. I know sleep signs pretty well and can set those up for anyone who needs them, as well as any admin. The challenge with those is that they appear to set the player's position when they hit the sign as the spawn point, and that 1x1x2 space needs to be completely empty (ie, air blocks) in order for the respawning to work. Someone who stands with their face against the sign, for example, will get a "bed is obstructed" error when they die and be sent to spawn.
  25. Some images: http://imgur.com/a/wc4Cu I embedded the relief in the side of the hill on the volcano island facing the fishing village. Dramatic shot of a big face! Actually just the stone lizard. Random spires placed close to the beach. I found a hill to hide a relief sculpture, but it's right behind a tree. Maybe this will just be a curiosity for the archaeologists. Toad still might need some work, other than that I can probably just drop a bunch of them in the smaller clearings in the jungle island - there seem to be enough of those around. Other than that, I'll probably look for places to put more of the spires, maybe the tall fire post (with no fire). Some of the others require quite a bit of ground area (or certain arrangements, eg. two toads on either side of a relief sculpture, with a patch of stone on the ground suggesting a tomb), and I'm probably going to either neglect clearing space around them (just leave it as something interesting for archaeologists) or not place many of them in - at this point I'm reluctant to clear any part of the jungle, it's too dense ._. This is probably frivolous at this stage, but I had a thought about adding in some lettering on and around the ruins, maybe in the ravine alphabet (http://www.reddit.com/r/mcpublic/comments/2vlu0z/an_abandoned_ravine_outpost_thing_lost_under_the/coj53rj). Might be good for storytelling, though that is admittedly not priority at this time.
