  1. https://nerd.nu/forums/index.php?/topic/2254-congratulations-on-100k-total-server-bans/?p=16060
  2. That still isn't the original topic, but examples of the times I've made people "beg" are when I get them to explain why they feel they should be unbanned. Generally, this occurs when I'm taking a chance to unban someone who many of the other staff feels should be "perma-banned". So, basically it is me asking the player to convince me that they earn the privilege to play here (since it is by no means a right for anyone). If I feel what they have to say shows that truly are remorseful, and intend to change their ways, then I will unban them. So, I figure it is a better alternative than the option to leave them banned with zero hope for an unban.
  3. Which topic would that be? The original post was congratulating us on 100k bans. Most everything after that was different topics.
  4. I'll admit I've made a few people beg, but the steps I listed is not begging. It is a chance to prove they are capable of following directions. If you can't follow the rules, then you can't play here
  5. Your wording seems harsh, but I'm not really seeing this as a counter-argument. We have a set of rules, and we just ask for them to be followed. If they can't, then the ban appeal process is something they have to go through to show they can properly follow instructions. Many of my ban appeals, I required the player to go quote the rule they broke. This required them to not only read the rules, but follow a set of directions given to them to be unbanned. So, is it wrong for people to have to follow the rules to play here?
  6. I don't. I feel part of the punishment is having to make the ban appeal, having to admit your wrongdoing. If we just set ban lengths that automatically expire, I don't think that causes people to change their ways. Heck, many people who do go through the process refuse to change their ways, but many others do.
  7. It has now been six months since your last appeal was denied. Looking through your past bans, you haven't really seemed to learn your lesson. I'm going to need you to convince me to unban you. Your original post isn't really very convincing, So, take some time, decide exactly why you feel you should be unbanned.
  8. Having removed the troll part of your post, I'm going to stand by what I said in your last appeal. Feel free to appeal on June 30, 2015.
  9. If something like this comes into play, I'd suggest limiting the size of a "clan" that can receive the buff. This prevents powerhouses from forming that dominate anyone else.
  10. I'd check your numbers. You have Crock not having posted in a year, when he has posted today. You have katiewills last posting 4 days in the future. Once everything is double checked, I'd be fine with this.
  11. We have never really had any set guidelines. Usually after "a while", something like this comes up, and people who have not been around for a couple months or so, we will shoot them a PM, asking if they want to remain on staff or be removed. If they want to be removed, we take it as an official step down, and move them to past moderators. If we get no answer in a week or two, we move them to inactive moderators. If they wish to remain, we tell them to get their shit together, and come play with us from time to time.
  12. Hey BCB, Was just waiting until your actual unban date to respond. Keep in mind, we do not give this chance lightly. As I stated in the last appeal, any future infractions will result in ban lengths of at least a year. If you're not sure if something is a rule violation, feel free to contact an admin any way necessary. I'll end this the way I did your first appeal two years ago: "Please try to stick to the rules. I don't want to see you back here. Unbanned, Welcome back"
  13. We like to use it to keep people informed. It is redundant if you already look at the forums / subreddit, but some people like the info to come to them. In the age of smart phones, people can follow it to get instant notifications of information. Feel free to look through the past tweets. If you feel it could be used differently, let us know.
  14. Continuing to bump this thread without waiting for either redwall_hp to respond or the 48 hours to pass will only cause an extension of the ban length.
  15. Ban for legendlife35 on c.nerd.nu for Combat logging on Survival nerd.nu/appeal by redwall_hp on 2014-06-12 23:11:18 (no more bans, 3 notes) Note #36790 for legendlife35 on c.nerd.nu: PVE13: warned for livestock griefing by buzzie71 on 2014-03-29 10:47:38 Note #36918 for legendlife35 on c.nerd.nu: warned for general grief on survival by tornadohorse on 2014-04-08 16:01:34 Note #37279 for legendlife35 on c.nerd.nu: Warned for combat logging on Survival by redwall_hp on 2014-05-28 13:25:38 Please wait for redwall_hp to reply to this appeal. 16. Ban for mankyv on c.nerd.nu for Advertising nerd.nu/appeal by slide23 on 2014-03-14 17:20:07 (no more bans, no notes) Please wait for slide to reply to this appeal. If he has not done so in 48 hours, feel free to bump this thread. We appreciate your patience.
  17. Ban for maina29 on c.nerd.nu for 9/11 build on C with velok1 nerd.nu/appeal by barlimore on 2012-12-16 04:21:49 (no more bans, no notes) It has been abut a year and a half ago that this ban occurred. If indeed it was not you, you need to change your password. Let me know when you've done this, and we can see about getting you unbanned. I'd also suggest reading over the rules during this process.
  18. I hope everyone enjoyed the festivities! We had 340 accounts that were split between two teams that played their hearts out. Blue was able to hold the lead and win with 123 Flag Captures, with Red having 94 Flag Captures. More stats can be found over at our donation page. Looking at this page, I'm very appreciative of the generosity of this community. In one day, we were able to raise $2287 to keep our servers kicking. I understand that not everyone could donate, and that is fine. We pride ourselves on not requiring the community to pay to play. Keep in mind, we only ask for donations when we really need them (such as the event we just had), but if you feel like giving any other time of year, the donate page stays active year round. I'm glad to see that we've made it this far, and I am excited to see where we all go from here.
  19. I went there, left, and returned. It seems to be updating for me.
  20. Ban for montygfgfgdf on c.nerd.nu for Crop, general, redstone grief on S (1900+), no constructive edits nerd.nu/appeal by switchviewz on 2014-05-27 18:52:45 (no more bans, 2 notes) Your banning moderator (switchviewz) will be with you shortly. If he hasn't responded in 48 hours, feel free to bump your post. We appreciate your patience.
  21. 2) nerd.nu/donate is open year round, and does accept donations at any time. 3) I'm still leaning to no on this, but willing to hear cases for it. 7) I'm willing to take the side of not splitting them. My idea (which can be implemented immediately) is to add some hyperlinks under Server Discussion on the main page that leads to the filtered pages (like this, and this, and this). This solves the problem of people that are interested in seeing information on all the servers not having to check separate sub forums, but those who want to see specific server information can see just what they want.
  22. Ah, I had completely overlooked that line, but it seems slide has fixed it.
  23. Are you talking about the "Latest Visitors" section of each player's profile?
