Hey everyone, I have recently been hosting the Friday Night Gaming Events and I plan to start doing a few Events for Minecraft as well. While coming up with event ideas I've debated doing a variety of things such as a tournament, staff vs players match, and more. While thinking about these I thought what if we could award players for winning in some way? Such as our Civ 5 Match, the winner defeated all of us and is perhaps rewarded something? In the past I noticed we used Subreddit Flair for people that won contests on Minecraft. What if we brought that back and maybe even expanded it a bit? With the events I'm doing for MC and other games, perhaps we could start awarding flair again to players? Another thought is adding an Award box to players profiles here on the forums. When I ran IPB Boards in the past we used an award system to give players awards for various things, such as winning an event. Perhaps we could add such a thing? Thoughts?

I don't like comparing video games to real life, but if I walk up to my boss in nothing but underwear to voice legitimate concerns should I be expected to be taken seriously? Or should I put some decent cloths on and approach him? If you have those things in your signature or your avatar as a didgeridoo why should you expect to be taken seriously when you look silly? I will take anyone seriously regardless but I can't speak for everyone.

So let me get this straight. You guys have a problem with being labeled "toxic" or "that group of players" but when we tell you why or tell you that certain things arn't helping your case, you just tell us "to bad" and to "deal with it and get over it". You want us to change our views but you refuse to change what influences those views. (I don't share this "toxic" view or try to put people in "that player group").

That's not the point. I had no idea that it was an inside joke and I'm sure tons of others don't know that as well. If a new player comes and registers on the forums and see it they have no idea its a joke and could find it insulting. There's no point to have it in your signature even if its an inside joke.

So what I'm about to say will probably get a bunch of flak but I would first like to state that no matter who you are, if you have a legitimate concern and you come to me, I will bring it to other staff members attention. Everyone has a right to be heard and be able to voice there concern/opinion. You guys are saying that there is a problem being labeled as toxic but then what some of you do is the exact opposite of acting maturely. A few examples, putting "allahu akbar you fucking twat" in your signature or location isn't very nice and can even be offensive to some people. Or putting a didgeridoo as your avatar when past people have gotten banned for it. Or putting a big "Fuck You" in your signature. Yes, I'm calling some of you out because really, that kind of shit is not ok. If you want to be treated seriously and not labeled as "that group of players", perhaps you should start by cleaning up your act. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for being silly and having a good time but you need to realize when you're crossing a line.

Going to use this image provided by Mrloud as an example: http://i.imgur.com/0cx9djV.png None of that is protected but it is what I am talking about in my post above. Some people will modreq that for protection and will get denied but then they will go to a different mod and have it get protected.

My computer is decently beefy and I have recording software however I will be the hosting the game. I don't want to record and host at the same time as the lag may get pretty bad for me. If anyone else would be happy to record that would be awesome!

Hey guys, with the start of the new Rev the rush for land is as crazy as ever. However I think there seems to be some sort of misunderstanding on what warrants protections. Over the last week I have seen many modreqs for town protections where the town simply consists of roads going all of the place to claim land and a few buildings in one spot. I often deny these requests as I do not see those as fit for protections, but then the player(s) just go to a different mod and have them protect it. To me this is not ok and causes a problem. I don't have a problem with mods viewing things differently and all of us having our own opinions but when it comes to protections we need to be clear on what we protect. Not just have users go mod to mod until someone protects there land. From my understanding, we only protect actual builds and not empty land. The problem occurs when towns surround chunks of land with roads and then ask for them to be protected. In my mind that is basically land claiming. You are building nothing in between the land and simply building roads to grab the land. Another common one I see is people building small temporary farms and then want them to be protected simply so that chunk of land can't be built on. I would be happy to provide examples of this from this rev if asked. The entire purpose of protections is to prevent griefing and not grab land. Can we please come to some sort of conclusion on what qualifies this? It has often been "it is up to mod discretion" yet I see lots of empty land in between the roads being protected simply because players keep asking different mods.
