  1. Okay, it's clear that we don't have as many players on creative as we used to, and one of the things that brought creative a lot of players was the fact that we were a bit more interesting back when we were in our first couple of years as there wasn't as many creative servers as there was now and so it made an interesting change to the usual survival/pve servers you'd find. However now, new servers are popping up with mini-games and interesting plugins to alter the game slightly. I think it'd be a good idea to try to incorporate some mini-games into creative, say in a cut off section of the map you could access with something like /warp mini-games. I think it could attract more players to our servers and it could add another exciting feature to creative. It also opens up opportunities for contests e.g. who can build the best mini-game map? Of course there are some issues with this, one being it's a huge change to our usual way, however I don't think we can say we are a vanilla server any more, we have altered the servers quite a bit, I'm also not entirely sure on how easy it would be to create a mini-games area in the creative map. I'd really like to hear the communities feedback on this and I'd also like to hear from the creative admins and the tech admins for their thoughts on the matter. Thanks :)
  2. I had an old AMA from when the forums started but since it's been close to a year since there has been a reply I figured I'd give it another go. First off I'll answer a few of the questions I ask frequently to others in their AMA's My favorite hot sauce is Sirracha My favorite alcoholic beverage is Anchor Steam beer, brewed a few blocks away from my house. My favorite soda was Surge until they discontinued it in the USA but Monster is an acceptable substitute. I have a cat named Kitty (my brother named her) that also responds to the name Cat.` Best friends on the server, in no particular order: Dumbo52 Difficult1 Letsbefehr buzzin Tacodude, who looks enough like me that it's creepy. Eehee buzzie marting Kennya Kevo Char Magnyus Shanty Verros Rockonn Mastercomathe and many many others. The very very few people I dislike know who they are and are welcome to identify themselves by down voting me.
  3. I was noticing on the wiki pages for the survival server and the creative server that a number of the cartographs (otherwise referred to as cartos) for recent maps were missing. The survival server is currently missing cartos for revision 23, revision 24 and revision 25. The creative server is currently missing cartos for revision 25. I was wondering whether or not these could get updated and added onto the wiki, as it would be nice to be able to take a glance at the things we built during these revisions without having to download the entire map. Thanks, Avada
  4. Okay, I've decided that there should be a place to: #1. Share ideas about ways to improve the creative server. #2. Voice any issues/bugs that anyone has found in the creative server. #3. Any general question that you would like to ask a Creative Admin. Any and all questions will be answered sincerely. No question is invalid and everyone should be encouraged to post here. So, ask away.
  5. Ok, something is clearly wrong here. Only a few revs ago we where averaging about 150+ players everyday through out the entire rev. PVE has gotten very popular but most of the people who would consider themselves C players have all left nerd.nu in general for various reasons. Today C is at about 8 players at the most every day, clearly something has to change. Anyone have any ideas on how to get back to the glory days?
  6. Couple of us were wondering why the map's been expanded so soon. There's a ton of space left within the previous expansion, people're all in the middle of larger projects, and there simply isnt a need for it to've happened. What's up with that?
  7. There are many problems on C causing many bad things to happen. This is a thread to discuss them. -SextDexy (I'm using my old forums account)
  8. Perhaps on the wiki so that regular users can have a reference list of all the commands that we're allowed to use.
  9. It was suggested that we should advertise on /r/mcservers. I have been thinking about it, and I can't see a reason not to. It's a free and relatively easy way to advertise the servers. Would anyone have any issues with advertising there?
  10. I got on c this morning, and found this near my house. It's a bit creepy considering I don't know who made it...
  11. I need someone to build a big ship for me, sort of like a pirate ship. Comment on this and we'll talk. [btw If someone that I know and/or trust on c.nerd offers, I'll probably end up choosing them :)]
  12. Edit: Name of the project is Urbem Futurum. Latin for City of the Future which also will be the theme once dug. Quadrant 1 has been cleared and it now being dug. Warp is also active /warp Urbem ---------------------------------------- I've taken the opportunity to mark out a 300x300 area for what will hopefully become this rev's group dig. Looking for help and idea's. Coordinates: NW Corner = -900,-1550 NE Corner = -600, -1550 SW Corner = -900,-1250 SE Corner = -600, -1250 The center is at -750,-1400 respectively. Pictures of the area. Thanks!
  13. At the end of every revision on creative, as most of us know, we host a Chaos mode, in which we first go for a few days in survival mode, scavenging materials from buildings, triggering traps, destroying things by hand, and afterwards destroy the map again in creative mode with the aid of unlimited tnt. During the Chaos mode, all player's data is reset, inventories wiped, all teleport aspects removed (homes, warps, etc), and the player position reset to the spawnpoint. However, there are many people who ignore the spirit of starting from scratch to tear down an empire. These people make stashes of armor, food, tnt, etc, all over the map, usually in bedrock bunkers to survive the onslaught of tnt waves. They hide these stashes in the hopes of using them to gain an advantage over all other players during the survival mode of Chaos. Personally, I'm of the belief that such actions defeat the purpose of the survival mode of Chaos, that inventories are deliberately wiped for a fresh start. It's one thing for controlled stashes to be put into place- the odd 3 blocks of tnt, a piece of diamond armor, simple stuff like that. However, time & again I've seen people with inventories full of tnt, glitched pieces of enchanted armor, and other things that players who wanted to survive with what they've spent months working on simply cannot compete against. These people & the actions they take quite simply ruin the fun of Chaos mode. The arguement could be made that such wild cards keep it interesting, but I find that hard to support when 2-3 such players seal off the spawn & chase down whoever exits it. As a solution to this issue I've seen, I propose the following: In addition to player data resets, the Chaos map should have all chests removed that'd been previously placed, as well as large groups of other storage-related items. This can be done very easily with a worldedit filter. Players can have their massive amounts of tnt & over-powered armor during the creative Chaos mode. Leave the survival mode timeframe for surviving.
  14. So, per comments I've heard around the servers, including here, we've spent some time discussing the idea. What we would like to do is start having Throwback Thursdays. Now, I know you may be thinking this is just some April Fools thing, but it is my off day, so I didn't have time to post it until now, this is no joke. So, the way it will work is similar to Magynus's suggestion in the linked thread. The proposed plan is for 24 hours every Thursday, the Event server will host old maps. These maps will be updated to the current version of minecraft, and will be running a post-rev style chaos. This means we will have some essentials such as world border, log block, etc. to prevent rule breakers (yes, chaos still has some rules). The best part about this: old players get the nostalgia of running around their old towns with friends, and new players get to explore how things were before their time. So, down to some details about it. The current plan is to run each map for 24 hours two Thursdays in a row. Each map will rotate from server to server (personally thinking the server order should go C -> S -> P, since that is the order they came about). We will run polls for the playerbase to choose which rev they would like to play on each time around. So, it would look something like this: 1st Thursday - C Rev 14 2nd Thursday - C Rev 14 3rd Thursday - S Rev 5 4th Thursday - S Rev 5 5th Thursday - P Rev 7 6th Thursday - P Rev 7 7th Thursday - C Rev 10 etc So, since I'm just getting this thread up, it may be a couple weeks before we get it all rolling out, but I'd like everyone to post feedback, thoughts, and suggestions regarding this.
  15. I realize it is probably bad form to make a serious suggestion on April 1st, but here it is anyway. Would it be possible to have any modreq that has the word "grief" in the text be automatically pushed to the top of the modreq queue? This ensures that thwarting greifers is given our top level of attention even if we have multiple pages of modreqs (which is very common at the beginning of a rev).
  16. My new skin has reduced my head to being a brown square... This is only the inner layer of the head of my skin, the outer layer is where the face is... I guess.
  17. Alright this has gone on long enough, we NEED to have a full CTA comeback. One that people can build together and make it into a fun and well made rail system that brings back the true spirit of building on C. This thread will be dedicated to any ideas, and planning we will do in advanced for the next revisions CTA.
  18. Hey everyone! Creative Revision 26 has officially launched and I hope you're all having fun! This thread is just for any feedback your guys want to give us about the current revision. We would love to hear what you like, don't like, what could be improved, or what you would like to see more of. Your feedback is what makes Creative a better place because we are listening, so I really encourage you to post your thoughts so we can get the feedback we need! Thanks! -LetsBFehr
  19. Dumbo52, we know him as that big purple elephant with the scary ass eyes. In dambis honor, i along with letsB, char, and a few others, shall construct a giant dumbo head in the sky as soon as the next rev begins on C. Inside the head we will have dumbo refrences all over, and only half of them state "meh". If you have ideas or wanna join in, heres where you post.
  20. the new texture pack that i got makes everything look super pretty at night...when theres glowstone involved :)
  21. Looking forward to helping out with setting up next revision's map? Here's your chance! As seen here, our plan is to reset the map next Friday, so we'll need a bit of help fleshing out spawn a bit more. Most of spawn has already been built, but details, smaller buildings, and interiors still need to be done. Currently, all mods who have asked to help out and all admins are whitelisted on the preparation server, accessible at: IP: [Redacted] Port: 25565 (default) If you're not on the whitelist and would like to be, let us know here and we'll add you. (Any admins, feel free to whitelist people if they ask). Please note, this is not a 'preview' of the new map for staff members. This is an opportunity for you to help out with the new map, not to scout for places to build. It should also go without saying that details about the map which have not been publicly announced are not to be discussed with non-staff members. Additionally, all admins have been opped on the prep server; if any mods would like to be opped (for WorldEdit, VoxelSniper, etc.), let an admin know, and that can be arranged. There's also a sign board at spawn with stuff that needs to be done, which will be updated as necessary. Let me know if you'd like any other plugins/configuration changes on the server.
  22. Creative Revision 26 is just around the corner! We are extremely excited about our new map and hope that you guys are, too! Most of the map will have vanilla terrain, with a few areas of amplified terrain and a couple of WorldPainted biomes. The map will start off with dimensions of 3200x3200 blocks. Every few weeks, though, the map will be expanded to a larger area until we reach the final size of 6000x6000. A schedule of our planned expansion times will be posted later on. A 600x600 block Nether dimension will also be included in this map. However, we’re doing something a little differently this time. In a PvE-esque manner, we’ll start by hiding a Nether portal in an undisclosed location. This will give those players who spend time to explore a bit of a head-start in the Nether. (Don’t worry, though -- it won’t be too hard to find!) After a week or so, a warp will open up in the Nether, giving everyone access. Like revision 25, the map will have a couple of designated areas for building: spawn city, BigTown, and a spot for pixel art. Of course, the rest of the map will be free for anybody to build in. Aside from the map, there will also be a couple of changes to how the server runs. Most notably, Grass growth will be enabled. Leaf decay will be enabled. Arrows will be enabled. Look for more details at spawn next revision! The fun doesn’t just start at the reset, though! In the last 48 hours of the revision, we will be going into Chaos mode. Starting on Wednesday at 8:00 PM EDT, we will enter survival chaos mode. This means that griefing will be allowed, but players will be pitted against each other and will have to scavenge their own resources. Later on during the chaos period, likely a few hours before the reset at 8:00 PM EDT on Friday, we’ll enter TNT chaos mode: players will be able to fly around in creative mode and destroy the map with TNT. Don't forget that the final version of the map will be archived and made available shortly after the end of the revision. Looking forward to revision 26? Here are some teaser images so you can see what you’ll be getting yourself into. <cheese> Get hyped! Your admin team, Dumbo52 marting11 LetsBFehr *Console </cheese>
  23. Just thought I would post this cause, well.... I think I did a good job so far :D
  24. In the past month, I've rekindled my love for the majority of the Pokemon Universe, first through replaying ROMs, then through the wonderful mod Pixelmon. Within the past week on Rev25, I've successfully recreated a 2:1 model of Saffron City (FR/LG), including a fully functional Silph Co. Building (Tardis'd interiors, teleport pads, etc). The success with this project has inspired me to recreate the majority of a Pokemon region on Nerd, to the best of my ability, on a 2:1 scale. There are still several things to consider, including the extent of the recreation, the decision to be 2:1 or 1:1, as well as thing about whether or not to really make it on Nerd, but for now the only thing I'm concerned with is finding like-minded, talented individuals who not only have the desire to assist in this re-creation, but to be able to do so without being nagged to (as well as holding the right amount of creative insight to build independently in a consistent style). A project of this magnitude requires quick, effective effort in order to avoid loss of interest & lack of space (taken up by other builders). To ensure that I've got a committed set of persons to oversee the construction of the (to be decided) region, I'm hosting this contest. All you need to do to enter for a position is to recreate a generic Poke building on a 2:1 scale from the FireRed/LeafGreen games, and post an image of it in this thread. FR/LG is being selected for a number of reasons, the most relevant being that it shows the most detail of the original Kanto region, and I'm a sucker for detail. The following buildings can be submitted for consideration: PokeCenters PokeMarts Gyms Special, smaller buildings (fighting dojo, pewter museum, mr fuji's house, etc)(not larger buildings (Pokemon tower, Silph Co, Celadon Dept Store, etc)) Interiors are not necessary, as all interiors are planned to be Tardis'd, but if you'd like to make separate interiors (1:1 scale) for your submission, be my guest. The contest will end on the final day of Creative Rev25 to give ample time for specifying details before building. Questions? Ask! Best of luck to you all!
