I actually don't understand how changing the date of a birthday can cause a disturbance in a community made up of mature people. Was he targeting/insulting anyone or any party in particular? No, he was avin a giggle about his birthday, a small joke that really shouldn't have affected anyone.
-
Ignoring his birthday thing altogether would've been the best fix in my mind, as it didn't/couldn't hurt anyone and wasn't even intended to be frustrating to staff.

Banning Abiuv for a shitty reason is probably what made him realize that he's wasting his time here with staff that can't take a joke for jackshit and are offended by the slightest hint of fun in a social group that they don't want to associate themselves with. The reason he started using the Forzaire alt account for Minecraft in the first place (before his bans and such) was because he felt Survival was dead and he wanted to have a fresh start - hilarious bans like the birthday one generally convinced him that his time here needs to come to an end and so he went out with a bang. Let me remind you that having a birthday isn't breaking rules, friend. As for the type of community I prefer, I like one that I've been a member of for a long time that isn't fucktwaddled with by people that aren't directly associated with it.

With your starting comment on Abiuv, I'm just going to assume you're primarily talking about his birthday, which was the thing that started the entire fiasco, no? If that small incident with a birthday appearing on the forums had been handled better/ignored altogether, then the entire string of alts/bans etc wouldn't have happened. Going further into your first paragraph, you're effectively saying that the way we play is incorrect. Let me remind you that the people that play as of the moment are what's left of our entire playerbase. It's all we have left, and frankly these players aren't going to be predefined after having played on these servers for so long, having fought for it and against it.

Addition of mini games to creative???
EeHee2000 replied to SkrapssparkS's topic in Minecraft General
I'd dispute that, actually. Four_Down has a Skywars server running on his rather successful network, and many people I know have been regulars on there for a long time, myself included. On top of that, the mini-games would only be a part of the Creative server - if players enjoy it, they;re likely to try out Survival, PvE and the actual Creative server. -
Breaking the rules doesn't always call for a ban. Take dobreira's ban for example, 1 year for hitting someone through a portal on PvE. 1 fucking year. Don't you understand how bullshit that is? You also directed that at everyone in the thread that's been banned in the past, so I take offence. In fact, my most recent ban, as you may recall, didn't involve me breaking any rules - and unless you envision me as Kim Jong Hitlersatan, you'd probably also know I wasn't trying to get myself banned. Pulling away from that, if we were to implement a chat-filter system, I'd be pleased if saying a banned word also placed a note on the player attempting to say bad things. That way, we can keep track of repeat offenders that could otherwise keep coming back after their temp-bans/jailings.

That ban message does show up, yo.

This is a very multi-sided subject, as ban reasons vary widely from person to person. I for one think we should implement temp bans, but only for small offences. For example, crop grief. I don't see why a new player would want to come on these forums, go through the process of making an account, make a ban appeal, wait for staff to respond, read the rules/state what rules they broke and wait again for staff to respond when there's hundreds on hundreds of other servers they can jump on in an instant. There's not many reasons for players to do that, in all honesty. I mean, spamming chat/insulting someone a little too much/crop grief and such isn't a reason to make someone do the process of appealing, whereas on the other hand, medium/large scale grief, racist remarks, x-raying etc (in my opinion) warrant for a staff member to investigate a player's ban history, post evidence of the offences, and all the other things. A temp-ban is like a lengthened kick - the user knows that they will be able to come back on the server relatively soon, and there's no need to make an appeal. A side note, temp-bans have been used in the past, I can speak from experience. Continuing on the topic of bans in general, I think we need some kind of policy change. I mean, barneygale was banned for far too fucking long, dobreira's ban was absolute bullshit, and BCB228's ban could've been handled with a kick and a note. There's plenty of other bans that I and many others can name, but I'm going to leave them out of this. I really don't know what we can do to fix these issues, but needless to say staff need to speak up a little if a ban is clearly unjust.

I'd also like to point out that we don't really have an active, working team of Head Admins at the moment, some word on that would also be nice. From what I see currently, the SAdmins are running a lot of the show with PvE and Creative managing themselves, but there's little/no HAdmin input apart from the occasional comment.

SAdmins, have you guys thought about this one or discussed it? Sounds like it could be a game changer, I'd like to see some staff attention on it.

That's what I've been thinking over the past few days, actually. Random spawns have potential, but not on a map the size we have.
-
I'm going to agree, random spawns spreads us out too far and roads have always had strong importance for PvP on Survival. Random spawns are something that would/could work with a much smaller map.
-
The problem with that is that random spawns = no PvP at all, I don't think I've killed more than 5 different people this entire revision, so someone trying to get a killstreak reward would be painfully slow.

;DDDDDDD

Exactly what I meant, ja.

I'm perfectly fine with PvE players designing towns on Creative, but I don't like/wouldn't want to see it get to the point where Creative seems to be primarily used for PvE builds - whether that's caused by low count of builds by Creative players or PvE players claiming a dickload of the map. Otherwise, no-one really has a problem with it. The main thing I want to stress in this regard is that I don't want PvE players to be taking up more of the map than the Creative players themselves are, as that isn't the real purpose of Creative and has frustrated a few players in a couple of past revisions.

Sounds great to me, keep us updated!

I'd hate to see deathbans that apply after PvP, as we already lose all our shit from dying in the first place. For example, it's always really dissapointing to lose a fight in the first place, but to be unable to play for a while afterwards just adds on frustration, not a challenge. I get that you might want to challenge players, but deathbans are just going to piss a bunch of people off and they aren't really something that we'd use to keep players coming back. I see a lot of new players die once, get frustrated and leave, deathbans aren't going to improve that. I really don't think we need consequences in general, actually, because it's already incredibly hard for new players to find wool, make a bed, sleep in it and not die in the first place (especially if they run into another player, likely well kitted out with gear) - a temporary ban as soon as they die will give them the push they need to go find another server. That's just my two cents, don't take it too seriously.

I've got a question about the pearl plugin. Didn't we trial it once before and decide to remove it? I'm all for retrying it, but I would like to know how that decision was reached considering we had a vote to remove it. I'm also strongly against the XP nerf, because frankly nerfing XP effectively nerfs Enchanting, which everyone uses to PvP. I get that it's possible to enchant armour well otherwise, but all this change is going to do is make the process of acquiring PvP gear longer. Unless we're taking an entirely new, enchant-less angle at PvP, I'm confused.
