  1. Yes. He is the embodiment of PvE's special brand of trollishness. The hero Nerd.nu deserves.
  2. Hello, Centallith. The ban is actually in reference to a cobblestone phallus you built atop the roof of a building labeled "Kaldaan's Skycabin," which appears to be a player's residance. As I am sure you're aware, NSFW builds and the unauthorized editing of other players' structures is against the rules. Yet you seem to have a history of doing this, as your previous appeal illustrates. I'm curious as to why you did the same thing again after your previous ban. I'm setting the ban for 3 weeks. Please review the rules and re-appeal on November 17th.
  3. Wow, guspolly's look great. Well, here are the ones I put together. I couldn't decide which to go with for PvE, so I went ahead and uploaded both... Survival PvE Event Chaos Creative
  4. I kind of like this idea, actually. (Especially with the PvP element.) It would be kind of like Settlers of Catan or Age of Empires. You could have limited resources on a single island, and have to build out to another to get whatever that island has more of. The players on Island A could have lots of wood, but not much coal. So they build a bridge out to Island B, which has lots of coal and iron, so they can raid it for resources.
  5. Definitely. Basically, whatever you're comfortable using and can output a 64x64 PNG. (I'm a Photoshop guy, myself. But for all I know MS Paint has improved since the last time I used Windows...which would be XP.) I like the idea of having a separate icon for each server, and allowing each participant to submit for each one if they choose.
  6. I assume mobgrief will be turned off for either of the top two options? (Zombies bashing down doors could be problematic on PvE.)
  7. That's awesome! Why isn't that in the GitHub readme? Edit: Nevermind, apparently I missed it somehow.
  8. I'm new to Watson, obviously...what does that do? Is there a way to automatically flip through /lb page x when you're feeding it to Watson or something?
  9. It's been pretty bad for me on S this rev. I'm in something like three clanchats, then I usually have at least one /r and sometime the modchat going at the same time. It's confusion, to say the least. I need to look into setting some more macros...
  10. Any chance we could get TabbyChat cleared for use on Survival? It seems to be popular on PvE, but isn't on the approved client mods list for S. It doesn't seem like it would impact gameplay too much, but would be a very useful UI tweak. (Especially if you're juggling several chat discussions in multiple clanchats, PMs and /mb like I tend to do.) I meant to ask MrLoud the last time I saw him in-game, but got distracted.
  11. Awesome! I'm really excited about CARBON. I don't fully understand the Redstone behind it, just enough to realize how ingenous it is. (The signaling system and memory circuits are pretty cool.) :) Definitely glass. Seeing the surrounding nether while you speed by is more fun than a nondescript wall.
  12. My comprehensive definition of grief bait is: 1. A significantly difficult to obtain block that breaks into pieces instead of dropping itself. Silk touched ore, for example. So smoothstone is not grief bait, bookshelves wouldn't be if they don't require leather, but silk touched redstone ore would be. 2. Ludicrously ostentatious material usage, such as a base made of diamond blocks. That said, I don't believe it should be expressly forbidden. It makes sense to just say "if you want to replace your silk touched ore whenever someone breaks it, have fun, but we don't want to see it modreq'd." To me, the "grief bait" rule is primarily about #1. The "bait" part implies that they're making it difficult to replace materials as a way to entrap players into breaking the rules.
  13. TF2 and Counter-Strike (Source or GO)! Both games are tri-platform, I believe.
  14. I, for one, would enjoy this service. I've been trying (with little success) to set up a ZNC box and connect it to GameSurge. If you've managed to get it working, that's awesome. Do you support push notifications to Colloquy Mobile? There's a nifty ZNC plugin for that. It sends a push whenever a highlight or username mention occurs.
  15. Yeah, that was a big problem. I had trouble scavenging together materials, let alone gearing up for PvP, because there was a lot of resource hoarding going on. It just seems to me that the most effective option is to pool resources. If someone wants to mine, they can mine. If someone wants to PvP, they can PvP. If everyone has to wear all the hats at once, it's hard to get much done.
  16. Er...I meant whoever said "we're just volunteers." Not you, personally. Maybe I was miscommunicating.
  17. http://mctools.clickmadly.com/avatars/ Just punch in your Minecraft username (case sensitive) and save the resulting image. Here's a Tharine head, for example:
  18. Wow. Spoken by somebody who has never volunteered for any sizable organization. Every year for the past eleven years my state has hosted a big music festival on the waterfront, involving tons of international musicians. Running something like that is a huge undertaking, even if the public doesn't realize it. Hundreds of volunteers are involved to fill shifts in various roles over the whole weekend, as are plenty of overworked coordinators. I've been a part of it twice, but this year I got my first serious behind-the-scenes look, since I spent hours ferrying musicians and volunteers around the (large) area in a golf cart, as part of the on-site transportation team. Volunteering is serious business. You can't have a good organization, be it a music festival, bowling league or game server, without committed members putting in a lot of work. Nerd wouldn't exist without people like that, and neither would the aforementioned festival.
  19. I had an idea last night that's sort of relevant: what if there was an ender chest in spawn? You could grab some gear before jumping down and be more properly equipped.
  20. The only person I've seen do that is Tharine. And I assume she has Reasons.
  21. Hey, that's my Steam avatar. Dispensing freebies for voting in toplist sites, that quite frankly I doubt many people actually go to in order to find servers, doesn't seem like a great idea. Kind of against the community spirit. xXNjordXx's idea is interesting, though. Keeping track of who's voting and compiling a scoreboard of sorts is preferable to rewards.
