  1. Hey their everyone, we have recently announced Mumble Fireside Chats and the first one is taking place this Friday. I would like to use this thread so that staff members can signup for them. If you would like to signup for a certain day please respond here with the day and time you will be able to attend. Right now we are going to try and keep them to Fridays but at a variety of different times. The next one will be July 17th after this Friday, please list the time you will be available and we will then announce the time that works the best for everyone. Note: This is in no way required or any sort of official meeting! This is just a casual chat that we will be having with any community members that show up. I will be keeping this thread up-to-date and moving old replies to Closed Mod Chat / The Archives.
  2. Hey their everyone, we have some upcoming events that involve outside MC prizes with real cash. The current prize pool for these events have been donated by other staff members and we are grateful they were able to do so. However in the future I don't want to keep asking for staff members to donate prizes and money. As we are a community, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on taking part of our funds that we raised from the Fundraiser and setting aside a certain amount for prizes per year? As well as outlining how much funds will be used from future fundraisers. You can view our current financial situation and info here. What's everyone's thoughts on this? EDIT: To clarify, I didn't mean actual "cash". I mean spending money on things such as Steam Gift Cards
  3. Hey their everyone, we are looking to add additional Event Admins in the near future and would love to hear who you think would make a good fit. Please send me a PM if you have anyone in mind and I will add it to our discussion. Thanks everyone!
  4. Hey their everyone, this is something I have always wanted to do and I intend to push really hard to get this going. I want players to be able to host their own events on the server with staff assistance if needed. When I was a player I always wanted to host official Mob Arenas or Spleef Matches but was turned down by staff because we don't do that. I want to change that and open event hosting to all of the community. I want to do this however without granting any sort of extra perms to players and to do this they will need staff assistance and support. This is what I propose for Player-Ran-Events. Info Players submit a document following a specific format (that I will write up at a later date) that will include information about the event. Such as what server they want the event to be on, what kind of staff assistance is needed, what the prizes are (if any), and other details regarding the event. The goal here is to have the player completely run the event and only have staff assistance for things they can not do. These are the things that I feel we should offer to players: /o and /broadcast usage (announcement on the servers) Teleporting short distances Prizes EasySigns All of the above would be done by a designated staff member for the event and not done by the player. The player(s) running the event would be in a clanchat to communicate with the designated staff member. The initial launch of PREs would not include players building something on E in Creative and then having it transferred over to P, C, or S. However this is something I would like everyone to comment on as I think it is a neat idea. Essentially a player would submit a idea proposal, let's say a 5K for PvE. They would build it on E, then next rev PvE it would be transferred to the map. How would server admins feel about something like this? If it is on S or P it would not be put in the world, it would be put in a MV World or under spawn where players can not do block damage or bring things back to the overworld. Rules Draft Event must be hosted on P, C, S, or E Event must not take down any other servers (You can not do something like the fundraiser where all servers are taken down) Prizes can include any item that is obtainable through survival gamemode. Can have a custom name or enchantment (such as a fish with Protection 2). Can not be anything to ridiculous if on PvE or S (ex: giving out stacks of diamonds). Staff reserve the right to halt an event if problems are to arise Approval Process The approval process would work like this: Player posts event submission in the correct format EAdmins overlook it to see if anything seems unusual or a bit extreme (such as huge prizes) If nothing is wrong, it will be overviewed by that servers admin team If all server admins and EAdmins see nothing wrong it is approved Event is built/hosted This is my initial proposal of Player-Ran-Events to you guys and this is definetly subject to change. Please leave any feedback you have and if you would be okay with something like this.
  5. Hey their everyone, I am happy to announce Mumble Fireside Chats! Mumble Fireside Chats are similar to FDR's Fireside Chats in that every week or so an admin or group of admins will set up a channel in mumble where you can come and talk to them about anything you want. You can discuss policy, rules, game expansion, the weather outside, or anything else. We hope this will greatly help the communication between staff and the player base and will allow you guys to bring up your concerns with staff in person. Each chat may include the same admins as the last one or different admins. Our goal is work towards getting admins from each group to attend for you to express your concerns. The first Fireside Chat will take place on July 10th at 11AM - 1PM EDT. Current admins attending will be Barlimore and Mrloud15, others may join later in the meeting. We look forward to hearing your guys concerns and ideas, and hope this helps improve staff transparency!
  6. To add to what Mrloud said, we talked about it in one of the Spring Admin Meetings and the general consensus was to expand to CSGO. Once CSGO is up and running and depending on hardware needs we will look into TF2/GMod. No crazy conspiracies going on.
  7. I intend to write up a official proposal for how E will be restructured and purposed sometime this weekend. If anyone has any other thoughts now is the time to mention them.
  8. Idea: Not sure how do-able this is but it's an idea. When joining the server instead of being told there are open modreqs and to use /check to look at them, it should say something like "There are 5 P, 4 S, 15 C Modreqs open."
  9. We could add in various reforced blocks that people could use for there base, kind of like we did during the Citadel S Rev. The idea is to keep everyone and PvP focused into a small area, though it does discourage base building.
  10. Hey their everyone, I am happy announce an upcoming event called 'Chaos Revision 7'. For those of you not familiar with Chaos Rev's, Chaos was a past server that we hosted at x.nerd.nu that was 24/7 Chaos but was shut down due to lack of hardware. I am bringing back the Chaos Server for a short couple weeks with a new revision as an event. However this time around it will not be the Chaos that everyone is used to at the end of a servers rev or even the past Chaos Revs. Oh no, this Chaos will be true Chaos. There will be insane ore plumping, xp plumping, loot, and plugins to enhance the Chaos. This thread is going to act as a brainstorm for all the ideas that are currently being considered. I'd also like to have anyone that wants the help to help out! Current staff helping: Leads: SwitchViewz, zburdsal Staff: SkrapssparkS Ideas we are considering: - Incredibly small map, such as 500x500 - Have it take place in an abandoned city - Insane ore plump, such as 10x - Insane xp plump, such as 10x - Insane mob spawns - Super powerful and strong mobs/bosses - Random events, such as TNT rain - Loot scattered around the map Plugins we are considering: Custom Enchantments Custom Potions ChaosSpawners MorePotions BloodMoon ChaosSkulls This is just what we currently have so far for ideas and would appreciate any ideas that everyone has! I am also currently working on getting a Chaos-Dev Server up and running for us to soon start construction.
  11. I'm hoping on the piggybacking train! Some people have recently asked me why there has been a lack of events so far this summer. Unfortunately some of my classes for college got screwed up and I was forced to take summer classes to make up for it. On top of that my family decided to have puppies and I have been devoting a ton of time to them (Who can resist such cute faces?!). This has left me with little relaxation time and time to work on things. There are events being worked on though so stay tuned! In the next week or two I hope to announce player-ran-events and get E up and running for all.
  12. Sadly not many people replied to my whenisgoos link. We are going to play tonight at 10PM EST!
  13. Sounds to me like your wanting a Chaos server to make a return? Part of the fun in Chaos is that it is not up all the time. If we had it up all the time I don't think we would be able to substain a player base for it.
  14. The idea would be to put ALL of them up and have ALL of them up all the time.
  15. PRE: Good ideas. PW: The main server spawn will include all the navigation for the server AW: The old worlds wouldn't be events, they would just be past revisions for people to explore and look at builds for.
  16. Hey everyone, right now I am currently working on restructuring the E server and redefining what it is and what it's purpose is. A few details of what I would like to see it become: Always up and open to players Used to host Player Ran Events (TBA) Used to help construct community events Place to host build contests and other events What would the community like to see it become? What is everyone's thoughts and opinions?
  17. Hey there everyone, this is going to bit of a lengthy post but it is a giant brainstorm and what I would like to accomplish with the E Server. I have broken the post into 2 parts, what I would like E to become, and ideas on how to accomplish this. Right now the E server is a server that comes up very rarely for a special kind of event and fundraisers. It doesn’t have any real purpose besides hosting events. I want E to become a “4th server” that is always up and open to players for using. This is my vision of a new E server: When you join the server you are put at the main server spawn, from there you can warp to various different places such as a PlotMe World for building events. Players can then build their own events with player ran events as well as contribute to other events. This is my proposal at his time and it will change based on your guys feedback and suggestions: Always up E server Multiple worlds to work on events or new server revisions A main world containing a board with upcoming events, information, server teleportation, etc. A world with plots for hosting build events I would love to expand on this and improve it. What are your guys thoughts? Ideas Player Ran Events This is something I have been wanting to do ever since I got on staff. This would allow players to host their own events and then lead them, with staff support for broadcasting, teleporting, prizes and more. I am not entirely sure how to go about this yet or how we should work out their requirements so any ideas here are welcome. Planning Worlds We are constantly thrown the suggestion that we should add a planning world for PvE or S onto C. This idea would take this but add it onto E where there is a world with WE and other tools open for everyone to use. It could also be a PlotMe world. Archive Worlds I’ve been often asked to put up old events on the download page or on E to view. Perhaps we could add all the past PvE, C, and S worlds onto E so that players can come on at anytime and view a world but not edit it. This would also save people with slow or limited internet from downloading a map.
  18. Hey everyone, with our recent discussion about having more meetings for the community and staff I thought of an idea (well improving what Mrloud did). Awhile back Mrloud posted a topic inviting people to come and chat with him in Mumble about whatever they wanted. Why don't make this a regular thing similar to FDR's Fireside Chats? We could do one say every Friday night and each week a different set of staff could attend. Such as one week PvE Admins, next week Creative Admins. I think it's a good idea and would help improve our communication with the community while also not swapping us with 'official meetings'. Thoughts?
  19. Hey there Lexdude1, please wait for your banning moderator, Boredeth, to respond to you appeal. If no one has responded within 48 hours please feel free to BUMP your appeal. Ban Information: Ban for Lexdude1 on c.nerd.nu for block spam + ~150 griefing nerd.nu/appeal by Boredeth on 2012-03-31T08:13:16 (no more bans, no notes)
  20. Not sure if this is the same thing as you are mentioning but I am hoping to launch Player-Run-Events here in the near future where players can host official events on our servers with staff assistance. Players or other staff could do as you say and reserve plots and prizes for a certain date and then host an event.
  21. I had meant to reply to this awhile ago but have been busy and apologize for that. The TF2 Staff VS Players Event was an idea I had for Friday Night Gaming where we would host a "official" FNG and give out prizes to the winning team. Sadly though I have not had the time to do FNG lately and this idea fell through. Recently though with our expansion into new games I'd like to bring this idea back. Our CS:GO Server is expected to go live here soon alongside a CS:GO 1v1 Tournament. Depending on the success of the CS:GO Server and how much of a strain it is on our hardware we plan to look at a TF2 Server. If we do this, I would like to save this event to go alongside the launch of our TF2 Server. As of this moment, nothing has been planned out for this event as you may notice on Trello. I intend to start fleshing out plans for this once our CS:GO Server launches.
  22. I intend to host a testing match this weekend for staff. If anyone is interested in joining I would appreciate it if you filled this in so I know the best time to test: http://whenisgood.net/ppnhqpp
  23. As it has been 2 weeks I am closing this and moving it to closed ban appeals. If you would like to be unbanned please make a new topic and follow Dumbo52's instructions above.
  24. Sorry for the delay everyone! Moving to the archives.
  25. If there is no objections or other comments, I am going to move forward and start developing plans for a Chaos Rev 7.
