  1. I'm kind of against the idea of recording these chats. To me, they are not meant to be a formal meeting or anything like that (we will be having one of those soon), they are meant to be a time for staff to interact with the community in an informal way.
  2. I would be up for playing and I will do the same as Barlimore and choose a random nation or pick one from whatever is left.
  3. I think everyone would see it as a rank even if it's not intended to be that. I feel like if we could trust someone with a few mod perms, we should be able to trust them with all of them.
  4. Here are some stats about the player count for different games today.
  5. We plan to expand into quite a few different games if this trial run with CS:GO goes well. It's very simple, we needed to pick a game to start with and we, the heads, decided to go with CS:GO since it was popular in the poll Deaygo setup and it's one of the most popular games on steam right now.
  6. I like the player run events idea, I don't like the planning worlds, and I don't know how feasible the archive worlds would be.
  7. I totally did not forget about this topic.... I think this is a great idea and I was actually thinking about setting aside some time in the upcoming weeks to talk with people in mumble about whatever again. I would like to encourage other admins to participate even for a few hours every month. Even if you don't have anything to talk about regarding your server, it's still a great way to connect with the community. I will be around during the same time as Barlimore on the 10th.
  8. Hello everyone, Here is a breakdown of where our finances stand. We raised $3667.84 USD during the last CTF Donation Drive we had, and thank you to everyone who made that possible! We currently have two servers, the main one which hosts our main Minecraft servers (S, P, C, and E). The second one helps alleviate the workload of the main box and is currently hosting the wiki, mcp-dl.com, etc. We also plan to use the second box to run non-mc game servers (keep an eye out for more information about this!). Deaygo was paying for the second box out of his pocket until we could run a donation drive, so we will be using part of the money we raised to pay him back. We would like to thank Deaygo for doing this. The joining fee of the new box was spread out over 6 months, so the cost breaks down to $80.66 CAD for a month, $79.10 CAD for 4 months, $76.29 CAD for a month, and $63.28 CAD for the last 3 months and this is the price it will stay at. The total amount is $663.19 CAD which comes out to $534 USD. That leaves us with $3,133.84 from the donation drive and $648 left over from before the donation drive, which totals to $3,781.84. It costs $238 USD per month for the main server and $51 USD for the second server, totaling $289 USD per month. We plan to use some of the money to advertise the servers to help build the community. We don't know how much we are going to spend to advertise, but we will let you guys know as soon as we do. We are going to see what other game servers we can run off the second box before spending the money on a third box. Below is a quick summary (all amounts are in USD):
  9. Dumbo has updated nerd.nu/applyformod/ to now include a place for people to add a reason they are submitting a player, updated the text, and updated the theme to better match the theme of our website.

  11. I have not forgotten about this, it's just taking a little more time than I thought to go through everything. It should be done by the end of the week. I changed the URL so people would not submit things there and use the suggestion forum instead. I had written down the URL that I changed it to we could go back to it if we ever needed to, but it looks like uservoice has changed how they do accounts and I can't access the free account we used to have.
  12. I asked c45y to rename it from "event server" to "staff calendar" for a few reasons. First, I thought it could be easily confused with with the public "events" calendar. Second, so we can use it for anything staff related in addition to booking dates for the event server. We can always change it and add another calendar it if overcrowding becomes an issue.
  13. So it looks like there is not a time that will work for everyone, so I'm going to go with the time that will work for the most people. If you unable to attend the meeting, please let me know if there are any topics, concerns, ideas, etc. you would like to have discussed. A recording of the meeting will be posted after the meeting has concluded. The meeting will be on July 12th at 4:00 pm EDT. As for the agenda, please comment here or pm myself or another head with anything you would like to have discussed. I will compile them into a document before the meeting and post it so everyone can check it out.
  14. Here's a copy of the logos marting11 made. EPS https://www.dropbox....d_nu_f.eps?dl=0 AI (CS6) https://www.dropbox....rd_nu_f.ai?dl=0 The font is Quantico if we ever need it for something else.
  15. 1. This is on my todo list for this weekend. 6. 8. I will also be getting to this one in the next day or two. 9. A lot of those topics were discussed in other places like IRC and mumble, but I will see what I can find when I go through all of the closed topics this weekend. Are there any specific topics you are looking for? 10.This is still on going and will be moved over once it's completed.
  16. Hello everyone, Let me start with asking everyone to keep anything said in this topic between staff for the time being. We will be opening up a nerd.nu CS:GO server and we would like everyone's help to beta test it! We would like your feedback on any issues you may encounter, even if you believe them to be small, suggestions for any maps (see below for the current maps), suggestions for polices to better moderate the server, and overall feedback about the server. You will be free to access the server at anytime (this is a staff only beta test), but we will also have some planned games to better test the server with more people on. Please note that the server is still being worked on so things may change without warning, the server may restart without warning, etc. Server Information: Currently, the server has 24 player slots and the game type is Classic Casual. Hostname: csgo.nerd.nu Password: goaway Map List: Thanks to everyone in advance, and please use this thread to post any issues you may encounter (redwall_hp is the main techadmin on this project, so a ping in IRC may bring more serious issues to his attention faster).
