Unsure if any work was lost but Creative did fail to restart at the 4PM PST restart today. A Tech had to bring it back up. Also, a player reported to me that during the 3PM EST restart today he lost a entire floor worth of work.

Not sure if related, but Creative has been having issues restarting lately. Several times in the past week it has restarted without coming back up and we've had to get a tech, and more recently when it does restart it takes a really long time to do so.

In an attempt to get this going again, I've organized everything that people have suggested here/I have heard in-game/my ideas and other ramblings. New Crafting Recipes - Solid stone slab brick (Discussed here) - Other blocks as well? Such as mossy stone/cobble stone, cracked stone, chiseled stone New Revs/Rev 14 - Portal system (Previously discussed here and elaborated by me below) - Custom Nether (Discussed below by me) - Map types (Discussed below by me) - Wait for 1.8 release for new rev? If not, how are we going to handle new things in 1.8 (Briefly discussed above) - Sending items to other players (Briefly discussed above) - When is the new rev, this is the longest so far and they keep getting longer, is it still random? (Briefly discussed above) Policy Changes - Enable TNT as a decorative item or to use against mobs (Briefly discussed here) - Larger PvP Arena Sizes (Discussed below by me) Here are the things that I tossed in and my thoughts on them: Portal Changes We discussed portal changes in a topic but nothing came of it. I feel like this subject needs to be revisited as I feel that the portal system doesn't work. Such as this Rev, we have 8 portals not including spawn, and several of the portal towns are dead or have almost no life. Some of them have been dead for quite awhile. I don't think that this is fair to other towns that are staying active that don't have portals as well as new builds. I would like this topic to be revisited and discussed by hopefully a larger audience in the mumble meeting. PvP Arena Sizes I brought this up in the past and I got a strong no but I had several players that agreed with me. I would personally like to see the PvP Arena size increased. As a PvE Server our primary focus is against the environment but I feel that some PvP matches here and there are quite fun. We've done all sorts of silly fist fights, full armored fights, and more and it's been a blast. I think increasing the size of PvP arenas would allow for more creative builds that involve PvP aspects. An example, I have always wanted to build some sort of large scale PvP racing arena but due to the size limit I would have to build it vertically and building it vertically would make racing difficult. Arguments against this would be that it would take away from Survival which I disagree with. Battling in an arena versus battling it out in a open area and getting into players bases isn't the same as having a match in a arena. I would like to see this topic discussed by a larger crowd. Custom Nether I would like to see PvE adapt a custom nether as Survival has. Having different biomes would allow for resources to be made more abundant (such as obsidian or glowstone). It would also allow for some more diversity in the nether instead of just netherrack everywhere. Map Types I have talked about this with other players and opinions see to sway so I'd like to see this discussed. My opinion: Firstly, I personally like this Rev's map. I think it provided a good balance of biomes but I feel it lacks the versus environment part. My personal favorite map was Rev 11 with the giant hills and wide changing terrain, as well as the nice little touches here at there made by the admins. I want to see more challenging terrain next rev or in future revs. It forces player to fight the environment which is what were all about, and to adapt to it. I saw some really awesome builds in Rev 11 where they had to adapt to the terrain and want to see more of this. I want to see mountains that are 200 blocks tall and vast valleys and canyons, I want to see more challenging terrain! One thing I also missed was the unique ore generation. I like how certain ores were plumped in certain biomes. Such as gold ore is 2% plumped in deserts or emeralds are 4% more plumped in hill biomes. I would like to see the return of more difficult terrain and unique ore generation. Some more ocean/lakes would be nice. This somewhat large ocean in the corner I feel is really denying some cool water builds that players could make.

While I like this idea, the only problem I see with this is dopplegangers. Right now the way we produce non craftable blocks is that you kill a doppleganger. If we allow crafting of these blocks then it takes away part of the reward that you get for killing a doppleganger. Sure you would still get the blocks but it won't be as rare as you could just buy them now.

My hope was that I would post here and get some more ideas/support. I can't say "I am going to do this" as I'm not sure if I would even be allowed to do some of them. Such as: How would I be able to do Rev teasers if I don't have access to the map before the rev launches (only admins do)? How would I do some of the /place spotlights if were not allowed to fly on P/S? Etc. My hope was that we could brainstorm some of my suggestions and thoughts on how to approach these ideas as well as generate new ideas. This wasn't meant to be a "plan of action" it was more of a brainstorm so that we could figure out "how are we going to do this and what should we do." I would be more then happy to help out in anyway that I can but it is really up to HAdmins on how they want to handle it.

With the recent push for advertising and getting our name out there more I have been thinking that it was about time we started putting the MCPublic youtube channel to use. I've listed below a variety of ideas that I have thought of and would like to know others thoughts/if it'd be possible. Events: I think it'd be good if we uploaded events that happen around all of the servers to give people a better idea of what goes on. Some examples: Spleef Club that happens every Saturday, the recent CTF event, admin hunts, arena nights, etc. Server Trailers: Each rev for each server a video is recorded to show off some builds/terrain of it. This could be used to give a small tease of what our server is like. Things that could be recorded would be spawn, the nether, end portals, or other things. Rev Trailers: Before a rev starts I think it would be a neat idea to give a small tease/hint at what is up and coming in the rev. Rev Progress Videos: At the start of a rev, randomly pick out a bunch of spots on the map and record a small clip of the terrain before the rev launches. Then as the rev progresses, every few weeks record the same spots and then put them in a video at the end of the rev to show how much progress has been made. Sort of like the livemap over time gifs. Warp/Places spotlight: Every week or every few weeks randomly pick 1 or more (or decide some order) /warp on C or /place on P and highlight it in a video to show off some of the spectacular builds we do. I know some things such as the rev progress videos may be not possible since were not supposed to be using modmode/flying around for purposes other than moderating. I'm curious if exceptions could be made/other peoples thoughts on this. I have 2 computers capable of recording in HD and would be more then happy to do recording for anything (assuming I'm not busy). I also have been recently recording the Spleef Club matches and have no where to put them, and would be more then happy to edit them and post them here/send them to a head admin. Let me know your thoughts/opinions/ideas on this!

This all sounds good to me, I just ask that if the changes are made to ModMode that the following bugs be fixed first: The colors of names are backwards. When in ModMode and vanished your name should be teal (it is currently green) and when unvanished it should be green (it is currently teal). When entering ModMode you are automatically vanished however once you exit ModMode you are not unvanished. You stay vanished and have to manually type /unvanish

Forum rule request: use of up/downvotes
SwitchViewz replied to barneygale's topic in Minecraft General
The problem I see with the system is that it encourages to much of the whole "faction?" thing between players. If you look at the previous thread about 100k bans it is for the most part the same group of people upvoting or downvoting another group of people and nothing useful is coming out of it. How about you actually contribute something constructive to this thread? Bickering back and forth is providing nothing useful. -

I completely agree but I feel that the system does provide some sort of usefulness. Perhaps we could change the system to only allow upvoting so that posts you agree with you can upvote to show your support, that would also prevent someone from making a separate post just to say "I agree". You could even set it (if possible) so that any votes you receive don't count toward your count on your profile, we could even just remove the total count from your profile. -

SwitchViewz replied to BCB228's topic in Minecraft General
As I stated earlier, I fail to see any of this "submission". Are we really asking that much for someone to read the rules and say what they have done wrong? Read between the lines? Of what exactly? The rules clearly state what is and what is not acceptable. Only in a few cases is it not clear and those cases are dealt with. I am not as old of a player as some people here but I've been around a few years and I have never heard of this happening. -

SwitchViewz replied to BCB228's topic in Minecraft General
If someone is griefing hundreds of blocks there only intention was to grief. Now someone could argue that "that's just how they play, they like to destroy stuff." Then what exactly is a temp ban going to do? You ban them for griefing and they go "oh ok I can't destroy stuff." We already know they haven't read the rules as they were griefing, and when there ban gets lifted the only rule there going to know they broke is griefing and they may go break another rule. Might as well temp ban them for breaking that rule as well? Sure you could put a message in the ban message saying to read the rules but that doesn't mean they actually do it. In a ban appeal we can ask them to find the rule they broke which requires them to read all of the rules.
