  1. Ah, so you could make a bounty, but you couldn't post about it on the subreddit?
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the new rule they just added make this plugin against the rules?
  3. The reason inventory tweaks isn't allowed is so that people can't have their potions auto-refill in their inventory during pvp.
  4. There are servers that work that way. http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/plotme/ for example.
  5. Last time I suggested a nerd factions / raiding server (about a year ago) I was politely told to blow it out my ass. In regards to enchanting, Mojang have announced some changes to enchanting in 1.8. Basically, there's a level requirement of 30 to do high-level enchants, but they only COST 2 or 3 levels. So once you get to level 30, it's easy to do many enchantments at that level. Hopefully this wil obviate the need for enchantism and XP boost, and make things a bit harder, but still balanced.
  6. The only issue I could see with beds is the possibility of bases with no entrances. I haven't seen an example of this yet, but you could build a base with many layers of obsidian, with a one-way exit like a water drop, and no entrance. Simply have an enderchest on the outside, kill yourself, respawn inside and unload your inventory from the enderchest. Such a base would be nearly unraidable.
  7. I've heard a lot of hate towards the colored tags in chat. I think it might be better to just turn them off. Also, there are certain types of intra-clan damage (i.e. snowballs) that are not blocked by the plugin.
  8. Edit: sorry, bad reading comprehension. I wrote my feedback here instead of in the plugin threads :(
  9. So basically default terrain would be a little less than 20% of the map, and amplified would be more than 80%?
  10. Have you played on the amplified 1.7 chaos map, iamdarb? Amplified terrain looks really cool, but not being able to move gets old FAST. It's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Here's the issue with the mixed default/amplified terrain. There are three general types of builders on Survival. The first type builds a small base to store all their loot. The second type builds a larger base, more elaborate, maybe with a bunch of traps. The third type build the gigantic projects. These can involve many different players, and can take most of the revision to build. After the first 2-3 weeks of the server, these builds are the main centers of activity on survival, whether people are building them or raiding them. There is no room for these builds near spawn, as they usually don't get started until a week or two into the revision, and can be 200+ blocks in diameter. An amplified terrain, even a mix of default and amplified terrain makes these builds nearly impossible. Edit: Can we get a clarification regarding how far out amplified biomes would start?
  11. I wouldn't mind large biomes, but I voted for default biomes just because I'd rather ANYTHING but amplified biomes. They would make pvping next to impossible (without falling to your death from a knockback sword), would make very large bases / builds impractical, and exploring a pain in the ass. Not to mention ruining mob grinders with their massive mob-spawning shaded-areas.
  12. nerd.nu servers are on 1.6.4, because they are waiting on bukkit to release a 1.7 version. If you downgrade your client to 1.6.4 (In the launcher, under profiles), then you will be able to connect.
  13. Toby, the reason that they had a discussion about enabling PvP on the other servers is because people play survival FOR the pvp. It's the main reason the server exists. Do people play PvE for the beds?
  14. Assuming they don't change this before the event, it looks like the SW buff is Strength, and the NE buff is Regeneration. Since Strength is so OP in 1.6, I'd suggest concentrating on the SW buff.
  15. I recently saw a video demonstrating this very problem.
  16. I'm very disappointed by this response. It was clearly a misunderstanding, and I expected it to be resolved quickly after my appeal, with no hard feelings. I apologize for how my post may have looked at a cursory glance. I should have been more aware of how it would look to the untrained eye. However, after that first glance, to anyone with experience with minecraft, it was clearly not an enchanted book. Enchanted books have "Enchanted Book" as their title, and have the enchantment as their subtitle. I expected your response to be an apology for the misunderstanding, and an unban. Instead, you have taken a very hostile tone, and seem to be blaming this entirely on me. Though I should have thought more about how the post would be received, the assumptions that you make are your own and not my responsibility. This is not an exploit, it is a bug, and you continuing to refer to it as such is just an attempt to paint me in a negative light. Exploits require an advantage to be conferred, which this does not. Thus, I take exception to your statement that I "dumped it on [you] with zero warning," when there was no warning to give, since there was no issue other than the mistaken one that you perceived. "I don't appreciate that. It's taken up valuable time today that I had planned to use on much more worthwhile activities." Again, the poor way in which you chose to respond is not my responsibility. You wasted your own time. Finally, I appreciate that all bans must be handled with a certain degree of impartiality, but the fact is that I have been playing with nerd since alpha, more than 3 years ago. I was a mod who stepped down in good standing. Perhaps you could give me the benefit of the doubt, and not assume that I would post an "exploit" of such severity. Perhaps that information would call for a moment of self-reflection, where you could ask yourself, "Could I possibly have made an unwarranted assumption here?" The appropriate response would be to come on mumble (where I am every day) or contact me on the forums (where I am every day), and ask me to explain the photo. I was not upset with being banned, as I agree that mistakes were made on both sides. But now I am upset at this insulting, buck-passing, ass-covering response, when I honestly expected a quick unban and an apology for the misunderstanding.
  17. My understanding is that there are two types of grief-bait. One is like a honeypot for griefers, where you place diamonds on the road or something. In that case, staff will still warn or ban the griefer, but not roll-back the griefbait. The other type is when you use items like silk-touched ores as a doorway, or to line your walls, and are relying on the fact that people will think twice about breaking in to kill you, since it's a pain in the ass to replace. For this type of grief bait, the "griefer" doesn't have to replace or get in trouble, and the builder themselves might get in trouble for having it. For the first type, I would say Diamond Blocks, Iron Blocks, and silk-touched Diamond/Lapis Ores. For the second type (making piston-doors out of it), I would expand the previous list to include to any sort of silk-touched ores and bookcases. In addition, it's been ruled that lava above a doorway fits this category, since breaking down an iron door causes the lava to flow and burn the door-item, forcing the attacker to waste 6 iron ingots to make a new door.
  18. I'm not sure what this means. It was not my intent to cause panic, if that's what you're saying. The title was not inflammatory, and did not imply that something bad was happening. For reference: http://www.reddit.com/r/mcpublic/comments/1kxrrd/during_a_restart_you_can_pull_the_books_out_of/ I await your decision, thank you for considering my appeal.
  19. Exploit? It didn't even occur to me that this would be considered an exploit, it seemed to me to be more of an amusing bug. Let me make a couple of points about this: 1. I did not cause any "damage" To be clear, there's nothing you can do with these books. They're not enchanted books like you can make yourself, they're simply a book TITLED "Thorns II," with the XP cost as its lore. They cannot be used to enchant anything. So I don't know what the perceived damage is, seeing as we have the command /rulebook which does essentially the same thing. 2. My intent was not to "maximize" damage I didn't post this image on the subreddit in an attempt to destroy the servers, but merely because it was an interesting, harmless bug, which I thought might get me some upvotes. 3. There is a clear policy that it is OK to post/discuss bugs which do not cause damage Many other amusing bugs have been posted by other players, including player position bugs, potion bugs, invisibility bugs, sword-blocking bugs, tool-damage-cancelling bugs, modmode bugs, and water- and lava-flow bugs. The bug I posted about it as benign as any of these, and more so than some. 4. Response to the rules Of the multiple rules you quoted me, here are my responses: "Don't be a dick," - I can only say it was not my intention to be a dick, and my language both in the post and here has been respectful and I hope has not antagonized anyone. "No use of bugs or exploits to gain an advantage" - As I have stated earlier, this bug confers no advantage to the player, and other discussions of more serious bugs (e.g. the invisibility bug) have not been found to run afoul of this rule. "No sharing of illegal content" - I believe this rule refers to copyright violations and child pornography, not sure why it applies here.
  20. Hey, I'm banned for "rule #1," which I think is "don't be a dick." I'm also banned on FatherSouth, for "alt of banned player." I've wracked my brain trying to think of what I did, but I can't think of anything. Judging by the fact that I was banned on roastnewt for rule 1 and on fathersouth for being an alt, I assume it was something I did on roastnewt? But I've only been on roastnewt a couple times this revision, for less than 30 min total, and can't think of anything I did that was dickish. Thanks for your time, roastnewt/fathersouth
  21. I'm interested to hear about this too. I like the fact that nerd is open about their expenses, which is one of the reasons I've felt confident donating hundreds of dollars to this server, because I can see that it's well spent, maintaining one of my favorite minecraft communities. Judging by that link you provided GMMan, it looks like it was at least $215, with a $65 renewal every 6 months. I'd love to hear a firm number from an Admin.
  22. Well, any PVP in the End is prone to this. Just like in the overworld, PVP tends to turn into "chase them until they run out of enderpearls," but in the End, they can just enderpearl to the safezone-portal in the middle of the end. Using a safezone is not a legitimate strategy, and is tantamount to logging in combat. Also, It's pretty obvious when someone is in spawn wearing armor that they came from the end. You could make the same arguments against logging in combat (mods have to witness it, we can't track it, it's he-said-she-said), but THAT's still against the rules.
