  1. For this set of questions: B: Prefer current nether portal network (2 portals on roads, 8 hidden portals) (current) B: Prefer old portal network (8 portals on roads, 4 hidden portals) B: Other, please describe I voted for "Other, please describe." I would prefer making our own nether portals.
  2. As an experiment, I'm pleased with this vote. I'm glad the staff-only and the all-player votes are pretty well aligned, it shows a broad consent of the nominees from the players, and shows that the staff are not out-of-touch with how the nominees interact with the rest of the playerbase (which has been known to happen, i.e. a player who really wants staff is kind and helpful only when mods are around). I don't know what your opposition is to this poll, CROCKODUCK, I see it as a pretty encouraging sign.
  3. Do you have any evidence of this happening? I saw this mentioned a lot in the last thread, accusing people of downvote "brigading." How do you know that a group of people don't just hold the same opinion on a subject, and thus all vote the same way?
  4. Because the server philosophy has always been that moderators only exist out of necessity, and that all players are equal, with no "trusted players" or ranks of any sort. Therefore, the community's opinion is just as valid as that of the people that happen to have permissions to the "Mod Chat" subforum. To raise discussion about the nominees, if necessary, so that any issues can be brought to light BEFORE they become a mod. To show broadly that the nominees have the support of the community. To show that user-voting can work (of admin-provided nominees, obviously, so that no one votes in Storm_Surge). To show that an open-ballot can lead to more thoughtful, respectful voting. Because universal suffrage is a human right. (Article 21 of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights) :P
  5. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say: Who the hell is 3c33?
  6. Quick question, since we're talking about it. If the ban appeals forum isn't the appropriate place to post a mute appeal, where is?
  7. Could anyone give more clarification as to why the relationship fell apart in the first place? Weren't there some /r/minecraft mods that made their own servers, separate from nerd?
  8. I'd prefer to err on the side of leniency, but at least this solution would make more sense. It doesn't strike you as odd that a person is allowed to play if they purchase a new account, but not allowed to play under a different name? This solution would be much harsher, so I'm not in favor of it personally, but at least it's consistent, as opposed to the current policy.
  9. I disagree. It's already very expensive to keep someone pearled indefinitely. I've had to put quite a lot of effort into keeping you pearled.
  10. Read the post more carefully. He doesn't say that anywhere. And four responded to all his points, including the ones about me, so there's nothing more for me to say. I'm not going to argue what the post does or doesn't say, when it's sitting right there for you to read. Please actually read the other posts before replying, so that you can actually make an informed comment.
  11. Sometimes there's just a limit to what can be fixed. For example, our base got x-rayed, and the x-rayer said our coordinates in chat. Mods can't force everyone to forget our coordinates, so we had to move.
  12. "Give us more dirt on roastnewt" - tobylane :O What'd I ever do to you, toby?
  13. I don't see how that IRC log is proof of anything... in fact, all it shows is that you say you have a recording, and I said that I don't think that's likely because we've never hacked on nerd. I'd prefer not to respond to the rest of it, but I disagree with lots of your facts about me/us.
  14. Well, the way the server plugins are set up, that's not a very successful playstyle. The server kind of forces you to be allied with at least a few people, just so there's someone to save you if you get kidnapped. But I think that's a good thing, if we want survival to be PvP focused, then clan PvP is where the fun is at, and even people who don't want to PvP all the time can be relatively "safe" with their allies watching their back.
  15. PvP on Survival I've had more fun PvPing on Survival in the last 4 days than I have in years. To me, big clan fights are the most fun, and everything about the new revision encourages big clans, from the resource drain of protecting blocks, to the need for teammates to come rescue you when you've been pearled. Also, having the prison pearl plugin gives you a consequence for dying, which makes PvP that much more intense. Also, being "enemies" with the two largest clans on the server means that you can find PvP whenever you want it. Let me share a story that just happened a few hours ago: I share this story to show how much fun PvP can be with the new plugins. We've had battles like this one every day since the new revision started. I see a lot of complaining about the new plugins, but people just need to realize how much fun they can make PvP, you just need to ally up with a big clan. If you want to fight the civvies with us, we're allying everyone that wants to go up against them. A few days ago we had a "Prisoner Exchange," each of us freeing our Prison-Pearled hostage(s). Just the fact that politics like that can exist in Minecraft PvP is super fun.
  16. As EeHee said, the Head Admin Problem is the fact that most of them are nowhere to be found. The fact that this network-wide meeting is being organized by a survival admin instead of a head admin further illustrates that.
  17. When you connect to a server, you send both your username and your UUID (universal unique identifier). The UUID was added by Mojang as a way of keeping track of accounts, even if their names change. MCBouncer will be updating to keep track of bans and notes using UUIDs instead of usernames, so changing your name will have no effect on your bans or notes.
  18. Just adding that /me is enabled on Survival and PvE, and spam is fairly uncommon.
  19. I think the website is a work-in-progress.
  20. No no no, what I'm saying is, AFTER the bounty is collected by the killer, but BEFORE the pearl is redeemed by the bounty issuer, the pearl is in "limbo." It does not exist anywhere on the map. At the moment, prison pearls are always somewhere on the map, so if you are imprisoned, your friends can go rescue you. If a pearl is in "limbo," then there's nothing you can do to free yourself.
  21. To me, this sounds like bounties working as intended. Bounties are basically a way of saying "I want Malvagio87's head, and I am willing to pay 2 diamonds for it." If you value your own head so little that you're willing to trade it to your enemies, then you're free to. You get the items, and the bounty issuer gets the head that they wanted, and the transaction was successful for both parties. Of course, I am willing to alter the plugin however the community wants. The issue I see with the prison pearl idea is this: If you claim a bounty, the pearl goes into "limbo" until the issuer comes online / accepts the pearl, during which time the prisoned player is unable to be rescued. http://nerd.nu/survival/bounties/
  22. /me is currently enabled, at least on Survival.
  23. Only if you assume that a player who voted for no votes would have chosen "upvotes only" as their second choice. Some people who voted to remove all voting might only want upvotes if they can have downvotes too. You can't go combining totals in a yes/no survey like this. You can only do that if you have people rank their choices.
