  1. The primary use I'd seen for them was minecraft related. When talking about a build, or where something is, it was nice to be able to do prntscrn -> ctrl-v to show someone something.
  2. It is a combination of lag and NCP. For example, if the server lags out for a couple seconds, and a player keeps moving, his client tells the server he's walked 100+ blocks, and (because it lagged out) the server doesn't see that any time has passed. So from the server and NCP's point of view, the player teleported 100 blocks instantly. Which looks a lot like cheating, so NCP cancels their movement.
  3. Sorry for necroposting, but this is still an issue on Creative. It was a bug in WorldEdit, which I fixed back in September, and it was pulled into the main WorldEdit branch on October 8th. Updating WorldEdit to a build after Oct.8 (Build #3307 or greater) will fix this issue.
  4. Back and forth disussion, meaning admins respond to ideas, and are involved with the community in figuring out what works and what doesn't. The uservoice page has not encouraged that sort of discussion, has there been any response to, or discussion with the community about the ideas on that page?
  5. It's not that you have to please everyone. Everyone can agree that what the admins are currently doing with S isn't working, so people want to have a discussion with them, to see if we can come to a solution. Saying "no discussion, we'll do straw polls instead, then come to our own decisions privately," just seems to be doing the same old thing and hoping for a different outcome.
  6. Asking people to write down their thoughts is better if you want to just tally up opinions and decide what you want on your own. This is essentially how the last mumble meeting ran, the admins did not respond at all to any suggestions, and just let everyone speak AT them for a couple hours. If you actually had a back and forth DISCUSSION, where you participated and weighed the pros and cons of different ideas, you might find mumble meetings more useful. EDIT: I listened in on the creative meeting, and it was a prime example of a back-and-forth, productive discussion. The s-admins should ask jchance for tips.
  7. This is good to know. I guess we should just stop wasting our time then.
  8. Splitting hairs here, but we're the offical servers of /r/minecraft, not the offical servers of Reddit. We also might want to be careful using reddit branding and the "snoo" alien, because no one from Advance Publications has ever given us permission to use them.
  9. Democracy only works because officials have very little power? Aside from not being true (the local city council has a HUGE impact on my life), that might be the most unamerican/uncanadian thing I've read this year.
  10. Why do you think the community would be unable to take factors other than playtime into account? Nerd.nu is actually a very mature community (in certain aspects). Most of our players will be able to vote in their next (irl) election. Is choosing the leadership of a minecraft server so much more serious and complex than choosing a representative in government, that they can be trusted to do one but not the other? Voting would have some problems (You'd have to establish "citizenship" maybe by forum account age? So there's no ballot stuffing, and a ton of other problems...) But I find it odd that you'd dismissing the democracy argument as "obviously" untenable.
  11. taken any good poops lately?

    Diplomacy!

Poor unce, still trying to get people to play this game
  13. It might be interesting to allow a place for people to advertise their non-MC servers. I know when a new Battlefield et al come out, a lot of us run servers for a bit, just to have fun and try out a new game.
  14. I think there's still a lot of life left in Minecraft, but it's headed away from vanilla and towards minigames and heavily modified gameplay. I think we should open like a "nerd2" server that's not afraid of diverging from vanilla.
  15. Have any of you played Rust? It's got a lot of similar elements to Minecraft, it might be a good direction for the community to expand. Maybe a Rust server?
  16. I actually have been able to reproduce it, now. It only happens if you're IN THE MIDDLE of drinking a potion when your enderpearl lands and teleports you. You basically have to start over drinking the potion after the teleport. This does not appear to be related to the enderpearl cooldown plugin. Perhaps it is a nocheatplus issue? My first thought would be the FastConsume check, maybe a mod can do some experimentation, and see if players having this issue are throwing violation warnings.
  17. Does it say "Enderpearl is on cooldown please wait another..." in chat when you try to eat/drink potions? EDIT: I cannot reproduce
  18. While I agree with the sentiment of this post, I don't think nerd.nu/usage is the best way to determine who's a "Survival Player" (speaking as the person who's #1 on the list ) I played so many hours on last revision because I enjoyed that gametype, but I can see other survival players who didn't like the raiding / large-clan pvp aspects of having very low playtime last revision, even though they're still "Survival Players."
  19. I'd rather not use PR as an example, but let me just correct this: That doesn't exist anywhere on PR. You must be thinking of a different server. I believe Eehee is talking about the skywars server, where there are seven starting kits which start you off with items, so you're not completely dependent on the loot-chests in-game. Some of them are purchasable, two of them are free. If nerd wanted to do something like that, then they could just make all the kits free, or skip doing kits at all, and just have players rely on loot chests.
  20. Unfortunately, they have stated that they are removing "some pvp enchantments" next revision, so it sounds like that part of your suggestion is getting implemented.
  21. Teleporting them in a straight line backwards leaves less room for abuse too. On survival, for example, I could see someone using the world teleport to glitch into someone's base. (They already do, actually, but as a base designer, you can take that into accoint if there's only one place they could end up, rather than a sphere of probable locations)
  22. That doesn't sound right. If you flattened the land, then you "built" that land, and they're building on top of your build, which has never been allowed. (Disclaimer: I am not a mod and am talking out my ass)
