The only way I believe it could work is with what redwall suggested earlier in the thread, allow people to switch into teams that are 'losing', as either defined by score or requiring an admin to run some command. Other than that your changes sound like a much needed modernisation of CutePVP, I love your ideas, great job planning it all out :)
  2. While not 'away', I am going to be somewhat inactive over the coming weeks/months, I will be around for small tech jobs but a lot of the larger development projects I am working on will stagnate for a while until I get my weekends back.

    PvE protections

    While I understand the reasoning, I still question how to enforce it. If it has walls, a roof, a farm and a couple of chests does that make it eligible? Does it need to be a certain size? Do I have to have friends in high places? If we're going to have rules we need to document them such that as staff we can actively enforce them, otherwise whats the point? When we refuse protection to a build, does that impact the griefing rule at all? If at the end of the day, either roads lead to a protected build that nobody else can edit, but one requires manual intervention from staff to continually fix... I just don't quite understand why we care if its not particularly pretty

    From a staff perspective I would have protected both builds, I was unaware there was a minimum requirement for a small protection around a build. edit that isn't obvious derp Maybe it was just from missing my P specific moderator training, but I wouldn't mind a clarification. Having a farm attached and being near spawn I would have thought it logical to protect to prevent grief as has been stated
  5. We run a plugin called propertime that keeps the day/night cycle tick independent by controlling it off the main thread. The cycle is not impacted by server lag. EDIT: No we don't, we do on every other server however. Maybe we should? EDITEDIT: Spoke to P admins, we should and now are

Bump I would also like to raise the question of currently loaded plugins and what is actually required Currently event-dev has Plugins (34): [redacted] The plugins highlighted in bold are currently running but don't appear to be getting used. In light of the server moving out of development phase and into a production usage I would like to get this all cleaned up. I will give it a week or so before removing things that I cannot see being used (unless told they are planned to be used shortly) Your assistance in getting this all cleaned up would be appreciated.

  9. I have a very similar blip in my traceroute, nothing to worry about. The packet loss between yourself and us appears to be the worst as it passes through the LGI-Infrastructure network. Sadly I don't have any friends in RIPE to pursue the issue further.   10. No update after one month. Survival is all but dead, and will no doubt be turned off before too long, the small group that played this revision are slowly dropping off. Barlimore is currently writing up the draft design to circulate, once an architecture is decided upon new admins will need to be selected and the server built. I have all but completed some development work that is required, but things such as the map and kits/ore buffs/exp buffs and all the other characteristics that make up a pvp server will need to be reviewed. Once there are server admins we will need to engage the community to formulate the final plan, thus 'updating' you all at once with some resemblance of a design that can then be discussed and altered as required ( our proposal won't be perfect and will need community direction and review ) Facing facts, Survival will not be a server we are going to be launching within the span of a month. In it's current form it clearly doesn't work, so until we have an idea of what will, we will not be putting up another map to grow stale and boring. Once we have something more than a general direction to share, we will be doing so.

The rules are often vague to allow for situational judgement, its why we have moderators and not robots enforcing them, we've gone hard in both directions in the years I've been here, neither is perfect - the current allows for the best mixture of clear direction but enforceable rules. Red is a terrible color, a soft blue is much nicer on the eyes I think the admins said they were reviewing land claiming by borders, has it truly been long enough to make an entirely new post about it? I don't disagree with your point that the act of claiming land is unclear and should be reviewed or expanded on You continual references to old or veteran players is annoying, as a 'veteran' I don't expect special treatment

  14. Adopting the land claim rules from survival seems to make the most sense to me. As it currently stands the rules seem to indicate that a town terraforming a 300x300 space could have that land built on by another player with no power to move them, even after spending time to develop the land. The major draw card of pve is the big community feel and the towns, both large and small. Currently the rules seem to favor one of the smallest groups of players on P to the detriment of the majority. Edit: It was not my intent to 'bug' you, and Zomise sums it up quite well below. This doesn't allow groups to strong-arm each other, but actually makes the distinction clear of free land vs land with an intended purpose but yet undeveloped. In practice leading to less clashes based around land claims. Clear borders are easy to moderate.

We should be generating content there rather than paying for small advertisement spaces

  18. With the recent updates to survival we have some optional new functionality for the CombatTag plugin. Depending on the outcome of the poll we can either leave it as is, where you need to type /ct to view your cooldown, or we can enable the cooldown HUD shown below while you are on cooldown: We will leave this poll open for 2 weeks, or until a majority of active survival players ( according to usage boards ) have responded.   20. This is a two part update to the current survival revision (r29) MobLimiter has been set to actively enforce a limit on creeper spawns from mob spawners. This is a reactive change due to an incident in which >500 creepers were sitting in a grinder for a lengthy period of time, bringing the survival tick rate to a crawl until they could be removed. The active creeper limit has been set to 60, so most players shouldn't notice the difference so long as they don't allow the mobs to build up for a long period of time. PEcon ( coins for mob kills ) had changes to the reward for creeper deaths in response to the above incident. After review we have decided to raise the reward back to its original state of 10 coins, keeping it in line with zombies, skeletons and spiders. This change was running for several days, I am sorry that it was not given the full consideration it was due and for the length of time it took to reinstate the coin value. This is probably a good time to point out a section of our rules: In particular, do not allow huge numbers of entities to build up, e.g. by idling at a non-kill mob grinder or breeding an absurd number of animals Please keep in mind that should an individual's grinder negatively impact performance for all players it runs the chance of being removed, so make sure to have some form of auto kill and don't spend the day idle accumulating mobs until the server falls over :)
  21. Admins have been given the nospawnerchange.switch permissions, which allows them to use the /spawnerswitch command to change the mob spawner.
