  1. I agree, this is a C Player's bread and butter. While a tunnel through a mountain may be more direct and have more throughput, a skybridge over one can be constructed in a 1/10 of the time. It's really great if your skybridge is made out of your team's wool (which inflicts damage on opposing teams when they stand on it). Always carry a stack of scrap material (cobble/dirt) when you leave your base (unless you can get stacks of your team's wool) so that you can recross another team's skybridge made of their wool by simply laying your material on top. Having a final stack of sand so you can drop it over the edge of your skybridge (building a tard tower) will allow you to get down safely once you're close to their base. I'm a C player at heart, and so I guess I'll be expounding mostly upon those player's tactics. We're the bridge builders, and we harry other teams by impeding their paths/exits/entrances. Then while they deal with that, we sneak in the base, steal the flag, and run like hell. You don't need armor if no one can touch you. Those of you who are more into tunnel building, all the better. Tunnels are what win the game in the end. They're direct routes to opposing bases, and with a minetrack they bring your team to the other base with an efficiency you wouldn't believe. The tracks work both ways though, and so are only good for a limited time before they must be destroyed to prevent reverse transits. In the last CTF we were using the minetrack between Red and Blue Team to effect a capture once every 10 minutes. This might seem like a long time, but considering that you couldn't even get to the opposing base by running for 10 minutes, much less make a round trip, you can see how much this paid off.
  2. Many of us have played Capture The Flag before, but plenty also have limited experience. I've opened up this discussion so some of the more experienced players can discuss how to be an effective participant in a CTF, and so new players can ask questions. To start I suggest discussing your perspectives on what the various roles and tasks are at the beginning of an event. Perhaps also discuss the importance of King of The Hill (KOTH) and other mini-games.
  3. Unbanned, have fun, respect the rules. Thank you.
  4. I feel like I have a good idea, but I would like to know exactly what an CAdmin's responsibilities are before I nominate someone since I've never served the position myself. Buzzinbee's original post on this topic is locked and his account doesn't accept PM's so I thought I'd post this here for general discussion. I recommend the definition of a CAdmin's responsibilities be added to the original post. Furthermore, I think it would be very interesting to know who the general community thinks should be the next CAdmin by putting up a poll(we could limit the poll to the top 10 most active mods).
  5. Putting the nominees up in Mod Chat public allows regular players to voice serious concerns prior to someone becoming a moderator, where-in they may suppress criticism if they are ill-willed. As long as criticisms are based on factual evidence, and we are fair (according to the communitee, not the single player being criticized) in our valuation of their faults with regards to how that will affect their ability to moderate, then I think we're doing our job right. I would not mind having my comments made completely public, but don't believe most players would find the community welcoming if they are subject to public scrutiny. I feel we have good justification for keeping the discussions in mod-chat private, privately communicating our justifications to the player criticized if they ask why they were not elected after being nominated, and not deleting any comments once a player is elected.
  6. I'm ready to declare the winner. Congratulations to Dobreira and ROCKONN, the winners of the contest with their Western Ghost Town! Hopefully we'll be able to incorporate this into an event! To get there type in-game /home MasterCommaThe 4
  7. You're sure you're not back for evil? Welcome back!
  8. Get well! Or else! I'm on book 9 btw...though I'm betting you're going to shoot right past me!
  9. Will there be another video before release?
  10. I think we may be able to get around that type of exploit I explained above if we covertly put that part of the plugin on the normal servers and pre-assign anyone who logs in to a team prior to the event. I can imagine a little humorous confusion if all of a sudden every player gets a message "You're on the Team!" on the normal servers, but I think we can anticipate that and prevent it.
  11. I have a question about that last change. If a group of players all give their login information to a friend, and have that one person log in for them the first time, that would result in that group of up to 5 people being on the same team, correct? If true, then we probably need to keep that last change confidential to prevent aboos.
  12. I know there's an app for turning an android phone into a very basic server (I'd need help with setup), but I have a number of phones just sitting around. So I volunteer that if someone can tell me how to make it work.
  13. Is there a way any of us can allow you to redirect through one of our own networks?
  14. Take care, enjoy your vacation!
  15. Do we want to schedule a definite time for admin & mod playtesting prior to the event? Must be prior enough to resolve any bugs that are identified during the testing.
  16. Thank you all for participating in my very first contest. I had a lot of fun myself and really enjoyed exploring all of your builds.
  17. Modified as requested. I'm going to give this possibly a couple of weeks to get votes in, no exact date.
  18. The contest voting is posted here: https://nerd.nu/forum/index.php?/topic/832-c-contest-voting-zombie-survival-event-base/ Locking this post.
  19. Which base would you most like to defend against a horde of Zombies in an Event? This contest is to determine the best base for a potential event where the objective is to survive the attacks of hordes of zombies, as well as opponent survivors Explore each base using the /home comment in parenthesis on c.nerd.nu and vote up above! 20. It's silly, but can we have the base shoot off fireworks when a flag is successfully returned?
  21. I would like this meeting to happen. (I'm out next week with no internet.)
