I think it is time to drop the "reddit" affiliation
tobylane replied to cdmrtbeok's topic in Minecraft General
That name is far too long Tebok, and some of your assertions don't stand up so well. What's Advpub? edit: I'm hearing, not sure to believe it, that there's confusion over whether the claim is "Official reddit inc servers" or "Official /r/minecraft servers". It's obvious we're the second. -

Could we do some fact finding on this? I'm not sure where the claim comes from. Look in this topic alone for reason to doubt it. -

I think of official as meaning something much weaker than a lot of naysayers do. Also, we're the official servers of the minecraft subreddit, as decided by their head mod. That phrase doesn't claim any sort of status given by Conde Nest (reddit's owners). The subreddit is the one thing that can't be as easily redirected as the others. Domains, for websites and ingame, can redirect. -
Creative Creative Feedback Thread: What do you want to see in Rev 28?

I think cities only became a noticeable problem after worldedit came in, before then it seemed balanced to me. edit: Was only thinking about ground-based, finished cities. -
My awesome super powerful calves hurt a little when I pulled the hem of my skinny jeans up. Argh. Misery. I could feel the constricting pain for minutes afterwards!

I'm still of the belief that the /applyformod page goes nowhere, and I send immature people to it because of that belief.

My impressions of S after spending time away from MC
tobylane replied to Ridiculous's topic in Minecraft General
The community has not chosen a new name, has chosen to not give out free food to get to unclaimed land, has asked not to have civcraft, has asked to be close to vanilla, and have made Uncehaven on P. The admins alone have only dictated (I think) what the settings of NoCheatPlus are, which affect the skeleton and rubberbanding you have. -
Smelly urine? Assburgers? A tall cooking pot with a cage for cooking your roots more than your tips? Where might we know you from.

It's a repost of the vote in mod-chat. This poll is open to members of the forum, by a member, where the results will only be used by members.

With sufficient mathswork by the users, portals can be very close together, less than 128 blocks. It gets messy quick with all the stairs and ladders, an ugly compact version of Shady Oaks. One every 1k square is what we were told was the safe minimum once. If the world started at 4k with one portal per 1k^2 and expanded to 6k then 8k that's spawn plus 15, then 40 more, then 56 more. That's a lot, but the later 100 won't be used for anything major, just access to fresh biomes, late-rev activity, wilderness homes, independent builds. A 32-station CARBON would be able to reach the initial 16 portals plus 6 farms/POIs and 10 expansion portals.

Because even 8k is a questionable stretch on resources of the server and the player's travel options. I think it's too much, 4-5k leaves more than enough room while not scaring people off overworld rails. I believe thrawn's wilder maps involved intended areas for each city. With that note I entirely agree with Totemo. edit: Now that the 'temperature' of the biome usually matches its neighbours, a town in two different biomes is better off than before that change. Small biomes might work now, though I guess care would be needed with swamps.

Bump. Ama as people are angry at me and I am angry I have no ama.

Mildly disagree, would follow any strong feelings by tech admins. I agree with the reasoning, but I don't think it applies in any great quantity. I think what may work better is that each tech admin does whatever they feel interested in, capable of, or whatever else motivates them. That's a loose, informal version of your suggestion, as it doesn't pin a person to a server but they will generally solve the same problems either way.

This is a huge issue that needs to be fixed
tobylane replied to bmx20042004's topic in Minecraft General
Can you explain in more detail how players would find people suitable for admin positions, suitable to co-lead Nerd, the necessity to carefully pick their actions and have access to all that is necessary for their job? Why is it worth the risk, if others not on your side, say me, think it'll be a popularity contest from the start. What if P players colluded? A large active city, say Rose, might outnumber you. -

Why is building cities not suitable experience? No true survival player? You quoted an answer that was only needed because of your questions, so the admins are looking back to deal with the question and not brush it off. I saw the friend part addressed very well somewhere else. Its because they've been made very nervous of your future reactions and any new staff member surprising them. That's human nature, and I'd love to hear a way around it because it would be helpful world wide. If I were in their place I'd think that someone who is capable of being an admin on a dying server, who played in a slightly different way to most players, they would be ideal for helping the server not die. Is living in a city really a bad different? It's a communal form of what everyone does, have a far away hidden base. The pvp hotspots as far as I know (which is little, please update me) are the spawn exits and roads, and crossroads. -

Each region will have their own needs of less intrusive, so we let the region owner decide. Maybe change the policy a little, so that someone can request their own region in an area that already has cta lines, with the expectation that they will reroute it how they please. -
Team Fortress Two. It's one of the most popular games when I look at the members list of the official and unofficial groups. It has constant updates and cross platform multiplayer. It's free, hosts 32 people in a game, has its own voice system and voting/commands. I would prefer there to be one nerd tf2 server that rotates through different types of servers - eg Monday 24h dustbowl, Tues-Thur steam maps, Fri event/holiday maps, Sat-Sun custom maps. edit: The game has a good system for the players voting for a map, and there's an alternative. I'd back them too.

So for the time being we are still the official servers of reddit. A low number of people come into IRC and C and say they are from /r/minecraft, I suspect you can get better data from P. I don't see the harm that you see, but I see slurs/fools from the community. The worst of anywhere acts the same. -
I'd like to join, my skype name is live:tobylane_3. I was called a troll yesterday for asking four down some details, am I at risk of being removed for asking for details of your plan?
