City Build Map.

Barneygale, as much as you and I love back-end changes, the community on nerd.nu is not exactly going to care about those changes if they make absolutely no visual/tangible changes to the front end... we need a new website, as a whole, not just a new framework... even if said framework is what makes it possible.
-
Or I could be referring to both, first being the one that barneygale had shown us that looked to be entirely complete, kinda got me really excited, but then heard from our lovely head admin of the time that we would not do that for we had been working on something else "cooler and more intuitive" for the website for "several months now" that was well over 6 months ago now. Not a thing has changed.

Are we trying to make "real life simulator 2016"?

Didn't we have an almost complete website profile system that informed us if players were online and where they were? what happened to that beautiful thing that seems to have gone forgotten, it was like a part of these massive website upgrades we were supposed to get... But besides that, I both do and don't like this idea... I do like it because it will show which staff members are actually active because I have a hard time believing that our 59 staff members are all active. I don't like it because similarly it also does not portray activity levels either... When I was a moderator, I played during the time that we really never got any modreqs... I was active however as I was constantly finding grief to clean up... Sadly even then, it was grief by someone who is already banned because the moderator who banned them never rolled back their edits... so despite doing quite a bit, it looked like I would do roughly 2 modreq's a week... Playtime would be far more accurate to look at.

10/10 would play with nerd.nu crew

I'm with Unce and his beautiful use of the revision 14 map. -No worldpaint. -Cardinal roads. -NO SPAWN CITY DAMNIT. -make a separate citybuild map where we can build various cities that are very distanced apart so it encourages highway creation and expansion that wont involve someones mini burning clan fort on green carpet directly next to the beautifully built spleef arena. -NO COMPLEX SPAWNS DAMNIT, SEE REV 14's SPAWN? COPY THAT EXACT SPAWN RIGHT INTO THE NEW MAP... BETTER YET, JUST GET A COPY OF THE REV 14 MAP BEFORE IT BEGAN GETTING BUILT ON, AND USE THAT FOR THE NEW MAP.

EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN JUST FINE IF THE SKYWALKERS COULD KEEP IT IN THEIR PANTS.

Links from tvtropes are very off topic, we're not discussing the meaning and reality behind standard phrases towards what could go wrong. we're discussing what actually could go wrong. there is little to no situational training. so when it comes to advanced concepts such as checking to see if someones edits are exclusively grief and deserve to be completely rolled back, because of this, most moderators on C will only roll back within the visible area of grief, and not the persons entire edit history. Server cross training was also not so good, while I was invited to be trained for survival during my time, there were no admin on survival to do so. And looking towards PVE they had not given me anything constructive, so when I went to PVE to help with a hackers grief issue, I did everything I knew to do from C, but I was still getting issues with inventory and redstone machines that were rotated incorrectly, my attempts to fix it were all failed because I don't have permission to edit in modmode on P... But how was I to know that?
-
To be honest Toby, the only real downside it could have from player to moderator is a lack of knowledge of nerd.nu history... Many big important events happened that lead to how things get done today, and a lot of lessons are to be learned before in advanced. But otherwise with a short and simple guide book for moderators on the many types of situations they may encounter... Not much really could go wrong...
-
You certainly didn't take much help from those who despite never having the position, could have helped you the most... You could have also insisted that someone get "promoted" who had nothing but good intentions for the Creative server (such as the entire group of moderators who generally played nothing but C at the time of your promotion), much of the group who had sat there waiting on higher up staff that never came online to notice them for... years... *cough cough* But who am I to speak? By the time I was even given moderator position, i was a and apparently very bad at doing the job... I'm all for faster promotions, nothing is worse than a player being a constructive member of the community welcoming each player to the server with open arms and a willingness to help them each day only to wait over a year for anyone to even consider them for the position because they are pegged as "too new" because our staff are too inattentive to their potential... or existence... But for anything above moderator, a line should be drawn... "Too New" should apply when the staff member going up to admin is not even fully aware of the moderator commands they have access to/how/when to use them... But that goes back to training and communications which for quite a while we didn't have.

What authorizes head admins to view private conversations?
XkinOEC replied to CROCKODUCK's topic in Minecraft General
Crock, how would you expect staff to look into situations such as that of private message harassment? it has to be logged, and though it is unfair that Baltimore used an alternative method of finding out about in-game messages to him which nobody else can do, he is a head admin and has the right to do as he pleases since he is the top tier of leadership on the server. In the process, finding what you said, he can't just "un-see" it... Would you rather him hold an internal grudge against you about it and not confront you about the issue? He could have just as easily done that instead. Honestly you should feel lucky that it is only this, that he privately messaged you, and is willing to forgive the whole thing without even getting a response by the looks of it. I believe the privacy you're thinking exists is player to player, as in Barlimore wouldn't then go share logs publicly about the details of your private conversation(s). -
@TFT that could help, but it still wont aid the fact that we have zero play value if no one else is on to play.Maybe we need to consider bots, and if we switch to gmod, maybe a cycle of games to play determined by number of players online @unce I like that idea, personally I don't like the game, but I could see that being very popular

1 year has passed, where is NEVAstop?

I personally would enjoy a different game myself, CS:GO while fun, isn't really a game that brings good social construct compared to at least what minecraft once did in-game. to make a social CS:GO we need to have some sort of out-of-game supporting community for it. Which before opening it, the head admins and redwall were really the only ones to speak about it, then it seemed to drop from their focus after opening, so really no one got massively interested... It's also not a game that you can play alone, so even if I were to join, i'd have to find a way to ask someone else to join me... Maybe we can create some sort of communications center for saying "hey, looking to play this game, wanna join me?" because otherwise, my only option to do that is via minecraft...

Is there any word on when the next one will be so I might make myself available? Please define a date as soon as possible, without doing so, this recurring event may fall victim to the same status as other meetings within the community.

What do you want to see happen with the E server?
XkinOEC replied to SwitchViewz's topic in Minecraft General
exactly why you will have to make it your goal as an event admin to make more events to keep the chaos down as much as possible, however when not hosting events, chaos should be occurring. Tobylane gave some very good suggestions for events, start setting up a monthly calendar of events, and when you have nothing else to fill a date, CHAOS! -
heh, it's an idea I was hoping to work on if I were to have become a tech admin, cross network communication tends to intrigue me. I also do agree with you, we should not tag it as PVE planning, but rather simply planning. You are entirely right, it wont be exclusively for pve, S has every right to use it, and so does C. If my request for a citybuild map goes through, it would be entirely ideal for people to build stuff, then for it to be moved to the city to give it less of that perfectly laid out planned feel that spawncity always has.

I like it, and chaos can be interrupted at any time for other things when need be. -
Yes it would allow them to remain on their own server, but swaping maps is much the same as swapping servers as it stands currently typing "/creative", "/pve" will go through the same transition effect that "/warp pveplanning" "/warp pvemain" would do. you're right about the chatting with their friends thing, but it also seems most of them use clanchat, or even mumble to chat now-a-days. We could make a cross-server plugin for clanchat. As for creative, it's already far from its original intention. It was intended to be the first server to freely allow us to spawn in and place blocks, flying is not allowed and we are not limited to a predefined region. Creative mode now exists, flying is allowed, and to use world edit, we must have a predefined region... Not to mention plots... Spawncity plots everywhere. The whole idea is trying to cater to players wants and needs more. Not preserving the server in the past.** Many C players don't find it entertaining when they are building an ever-expanding build or even just building, and then suddenly their neighboring build is a wide variety of wall corners and storefronts without backs, or 6 different path designs all stacked up vertically. You're right, there aren't many anymore... It was a much bigger problem on revisions 24-26 But what it did bring creative was players, and use during its off hours. However with complaint, most of them got alienated by angry C players, and eventually all of them decided to open their own personal servers to do this on. Having a Planning Map on C will in a sense, invite them back. **Although I still do agree with you, and like the idea of a map that is in survival mode with damage turned off, we could take like a blank copy of rev 12 and rebuild from the ground up the old fashioned way on one of the multiverse maps. inventory change wouldn't be required because blocks are spawnable so there would be little trouble setting it up.
-
It's been on creative for a whole revision already Skraps. It's not being "introduced" as for why PVE doesn't make a map for itself, Dumbo has explained this to you already in a different thread. But if I must, i'll do it again. PVE's server does not have multiverse, creatives server does. PVE is in survival mode, meaning no unlimited blocks, no flying. Creative has both. While multiverse allows for worlds to have different settings per-world, it's quite obvious that your inventory wont transfer properly between worlds without heavy modifications to the system. Not to mention portal access would be the only fair way to access it as a PVE player. Creative already has a separate inventory from your PVE inventory, and portal entry is not required. PVE and C have different plugins to manage different things. Obviously on C they don't need to lock chests or doors. And on PVE they don't need active worldedit within owned regions. Proposing that PVE simply host its own planning map is going to then require all plugins used on C as well as the plugins used on PVE. But beyond that, plugins don't activate by world with Multiverse, so now everyone on PVE will have access to Worldedit but will be trapped in survival mode. This will also require significantly more resources to run PVE. It is not simply a PVE map, it is Survival and PVE map meaning it is simply for planning in general. Having the map on Creative will ensure that players have access to everything they would like for testing, prevent unnecessary added plugin modifications, save tons of server resources, cause literately no harm to creative and its functioning performance, increase cross-server relations, prevent the wide array of half-finished buildings that pop up each revision because new PVE towns flock to C for testing as it is. I'm not sure why you're fighting this, in each of the previous times this suggestion has been brought up, you legitimately are the only person to ever rebuttal against it. But you never provide a reason, only that you feel very against the idea. Please, explain just why we should go through the extra added time, effort, and resources to make it so PVE has a creative mode map with world edit within itself, rather than within creative; the server built for creative mode, that already has world edit, a plot system, and now multiverse which makes it easy to make this happen, and creative is entirely capable of handling it.
