  1. Could be a fresh mechanic. You have to use boats or build bridges to get to the enemy island and surrounding neutral territories
  2. Hm. If we did that we could have some Mayan/Aztec/Hawaiian inspired buildings. Various jungle and volcanic region things. Step pyramids, etc. I like the idea of removing sheep, but we still want wool to be plentiful. Just not Inifinite. Remember the CTF where we had trade signs? Maybe handle it like that in addition to TC? So you can trade a stack of farmed food or iron or whatever for 10 wool or something like that.
  3. There's still the loophole of tossing "free armor" to newbies at spawn and killing them as soon as it's on, for easy kills.
  4. Sorry it took so long, but I've got a response for you from the heads. As of now, you are unbanned, and may continue to use your name or change it as you wish, however, if you troll with the name (e.g. griefing team references) you can expect to be rebanned.
  5. This was due to an error. The point has been removed.
  6. Your banning staff member will be with you shortly to evaluate your appeal. Please allow 48 hours before bumping.

  8. Hello. I had a talk with buzzie on the night of the ban and am aware of the situation. I'll get you a response as soon as I can, once I sort some things out with cyotie and the other head admins. My main concern is that one of the accounts cyotie chose to keep banned was Storm_Splurge, while unbanning TragicalBridge. But for some reason you went and renamed TragicalBridge to be Storm_Splurge_2, sort of doing an end run around that.
  9. You were banned from Mumble for participating in the continuing harassment of a player. In this case, the same didgeridoo nonsense (stemming from this old ban) that's been in vogue to target towards a certain Australian player. You sent a "Didgeridoo 10 hours" link to the channel twilexis was in, from the other channel where you resided. [3:02 AM] (Channel) GrayCountertop: [3:02 AM] RokkuCXVII is now muted and deafened. [3:02 AM] (Channel) GrayCountertop: Shit wrong channel And you confirmed your intent with the Mumble logs you dumped in your post in this thread: [3:02:15 AM] (Channel) NEVAstahp: [3:02:27 AM] To Gaming: [3:02:36 AM] To Gaming: Shit wrong channel I find it hard to believe that you took a video posted in your channel, and then "accidentally" right-clicked another channel, pasted a URL into the resulting dialogue, and then sent the message. What other intent could you possibly have had than to harass/troll by sending that? I would like to call your attention to the relevant section of our Community Interaction Policy: Additionally, you were warned in the past that "this is your last chance to prove you can handle yourself in mumble" after an incident involving alt doxing, among other things. I'm willing to extend one more chance. You may re-appeal on March 1st, 2015, provided you take it more seriously than feigning ignorance and editing your original post to simply read "lulz."
  10. Yeah, I think you're reading too much into what she said. I'm moving across the world in six days (which is time consuming on its own), and to put it bluntly, you probably won't be seeing much of me for the next two weeks after, if you catch my drift. And I like how you just assume that I'm going to drop everything and devote all of my time to Survival. We do have several servers, after all.
  11. I think the page needs to be reworked entirely. (Obviously the troll vid should have been removed the last time this came up. That goes without saying.) Let's ditch the "apply for mod" URL and title and make it "recommend someone for mod." Have some nice copy explaining what the page is for. Something along the lines of "Do you know of an exemplary player who could be a good fit for a moderator position? Recommend them here." Don't just have a name field. Require the name of the player being recommended, the name of the recommending player (this could be auto-filled via forum account perhaps, to minimize troll responses), a few questions about the character of the recommended player, and a text box to write a brief note explaining why they're being recommended.
  12. CTF, obviously. We've got a winning formula there.
  13. Paging slide23. :P He talked about this in the last admin meeting, as something going in on the new website. Something about automatic unbans with a confirmation that player has to go through. Basically like the "yep, I read the rules, this is the one I broke" comment we often require on the forum. As a whole, his outline seemed like a nice balance. You get the timed unbans for minor offenses, with a confirmation requirement before they're actually unbanned, the ability to do manual extended ones for more serious infractions, records are kept (not sure whether internally or synced to MCBouncer), etc.
  14. For now. Private notes are something Deaygo's been planning for MCBouncer, I believe.
  15. Would #2 be alleviated if the ban started from the next time they attempted to log on, so they're guaranteed to see the ban screen? #3 could be remedied by having the system automatically add a note about their prior ban when it is lifted. Just throwing ideas out there.
  16. It's been answered here already: https://nerd.nu/forums/topic/2858-changes-to-the-head-admin-team/#entry21911
  17. Bye Dray. o/ Thanks for everything. Especially continuing to help out with sadmin stuff when it was just Mrloud and I.
  18. The temp /ignore works fine for that. If you've made your point clear and they're still whinging, just /ignore them.
  19. Client Mods Installation Tutorial The two principle client mods we use for moderation now use LiteLoader (in the old days, Watson was a Forge mod), so you will need to install it before you can run Watson or WE CUI. If you already use Forge for other mods, don't worry, you can have both running with a little bit of work. 1. Download LiteLoader, ensuring the version you get matches your Minecraft version. 2. Close Minecraft and the launcher. 3. Run the LiteLoader installer. 4. If you wish to have LiteLoader running in tandem with an existing Forge installation, select the "inherit from" option and choose the version of Forge installed. Otherwise, leave it alone and continue. 5. Click OK and complete the installation. 6. Open the launcher, select the newly created LiteLoader profile, and launch Minecraft to ensure that it worked properly. If all goes well, you should see a little slide-out menu "tab" in the upper right corner of the main menu. 7. To install mods, simply drop the .litemod files into the mods/[MC version] folder inside your .minecraft folder. (e.g. mods/1.7.10) If this folder doesn't exist, create it. If you want to run OptiFine, you can drop it into this folder too. You will have to restart Minecraft for them to take effect.
  20. I recall okaying this with the other sadmins and giving the okay for the techs to apply the changes on S. Not sure if that ever happened or not, though.
  21. I like the idea, Mumber. I definitely agree with the need for (at least some) bans to be global across services, and the idea of timed bans would greatly alleviate the issue of new players being swiftly banned for something like griefing and never appealing.
  22. It's worth noting that all three of the chronological parameters for LogBlock accept times in other formats. I use relative times a lot (e.g. /lb sum b sel since 2d). Unless you need to be very specific (and remember which timezone the server is in) then it's much easier to just use relative times. Also, thoughts on maybe having a section dedicated to Watson? I've also thought about writing a quick tutorial for getting started with running LiteLoader (either with or without Forge) since I recall a lot of mods not even having WE CUI installed, let alone Watson. Kind of forgot about it though, lol.
  23. You mean these casual gaming events? It's a work in progress, and I believe the goal is to have more of this sort of thing going on, with different games, but it's definitely being used. It's also the easiest way to find Nerd.nu players to add on Steam. It was discussed here before, I think by Denevien possibly? Then it got put on the back burner and forgotten, and the idea was only recently revived again. I think extending this usage is the best way to "expand the community," perhaps coupled with a couple of eventual game servers for other popular games.
